According to a research, toxins can accumulate in your blood thus detoxification consists in removing unfriendly substances from the blood streams. The liver plays a major role in this procedure since it processes impurities in the blood for elimination.
What are the different types of detoxification regimens?
According to a medical doctor some detox regimens may target only the liver and blood, others the kidneys, while others on skin or lungs or on the bowels. To improve your overall health and appearance, it is possible to combine many of these approaches. Body detoxify:
- Juice fasts. Drinking only vegetable juices, water and fresh fruit juices and no solid for three to seven days. This will effectively eliminate toxins while providing you with nutrients, vitamins, enzymes and minerals needed by your body. A vacation is a good time to do this or you may not have the energy to execute your usual tasks. It is time to go back to solid food if you begin to feel too weak.
- Bowel cleansing. The best way to do this is to adopt a high-fiber diet including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, high-fiber cereal, or a gentle nature laxative. There are also many other herbal bowel stimulants. Take small doses at first to test your sensitivity since everyone reacts differently to different herbs.
- Herbal detoxification. Most herbs can be found in powder, tea or pill form. While you can take these detoxification supplement or herbal packages, a true detox is most effective in conjunction with a healthy diet. It is not advisable to eat unhealthy junk food during detox.
- Sauna bath. There are many ways to cleanse your skin of impurities. Dry-brushing your skin with special brush available at health food stores to eliminate toxins through your pores. Saunas and steam baths allow you to eliminate heavy metals like mercury and aluminum that come out of your skin through your perspiration.

Enzymes. They constitute one of the key elements for maintaining overall health. The best source of enzymes is raw fruits and vegetables. Eat these between meals in order to allow them to go straight to the liver and blood for best results. Enzymes help cleanse the bowels making them potent detoxifiers.

Antioxidant. Antioxidant such as vitamins C, A and E are essential in the detoxification process. Antioxidants can be found naturally in foods such as: Oranges and mangoes (Vitamin C), whole eggs, whole milk and liver (Vitamin A), multigrains cereals and Almonds (Vitamin E)

There are many simple steps you can take to cleanse your body daily. How to cleanse your body:
- Drink at least two quarts of water a day.
- To sweat out the toxins, exercise regularly.
- Add detoxifying foods to your meals such as broccoli, radishes, cabbage or seaweeds.
- Take deep breaths to oxygenate all your cells.
