Some analysts believe enormous pressure beneath the earth's surface cause sporadic burst of electromagnetic energy. This in turn creates conditions that better allow paranormal events to be seen by the naked eye.
- Spook lights. This is the paranormal term of strange lights that seem to hover over rivers, skip across rough terrain, or wanders through dense woods, only to disappear when approached. What are those? One theory is that lights are caused by the build-up of an electrical; charge along earthquake fault lines and in areas of volcanic activity. Other believe that spook lights are proof of fairies or other legendary entities.
- 26 dimension. Scientist says that there are only four dimensions-the three spatial dimensions, plus time. Scientists theorize these may be as many as 26!
- Witches. Why are teen girls are fascinated by witches? An experts says it's usually just a phase. Teenage kids, especially females have traditionally gone through a phase of interest and participation in forms of folk magic. According to an adolescent psychologist it's a way of creating a fantasy world where women can take charge of things that in a real-world society, they are not allowed to take charge of.
- Full moon. A full moon is associated with an increase in crime, according to a study by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification. During a full moon the agency tracked eight different types of crime. The findings: Overall crimes was up to 2.86 percent during a full moon, compared to all other days. Another thing during a full moon, the number of homicides was 53 percent higher. The number of man's slaughter cases jumped an amazing 22 percent during a full moon.
- Friday the 13th. Let's face it that we're all a little wary about the Friday the 13th. Some person becomes absolutely terrified when the date appears on the calendar. Fearful of the harm that may come if they venture out, many who suffer from phobia stay at home on Friday the 13th. They irrationally believe that tragedy can strike at any moment and spend the day wracked by dread and anxiety. Sufferer breathe a sign of relief when the clock strikes midnight and the 14th arrives.
- Knock on wood. Knocking on wood to ward off bad fortune has it's roots in trees. The practice has it's origins in the animalistic belief that trees contain living spirits. In this case, rapping on the trunk of tree was thought to keep the evil spirits lurking within from escaping to ruin good luck.
- Black cat. Black cat equals good luck. Black cat are considered bad luck in the United States, Spain, and other Countries in Europe while in the United Kingdom, black cat are perceived as good luck. Attitudes toward black cat have always been mixed. In Egypt, coal-colored cats were revered and accorded high status. It wasn't until the Dark Ages and the persecution of witches that black cats became associated with ill fortune and evil spells, a superstition that continues through today.
