There are many areas in the house where a variety of odors can sabotage you.  one of the keys to having your household feel clean, even if it isn't is to have it smell fresh.  It's important to keep in mind that fresheners simply mask odors, you need to kill or remove the source in order to truly remove an odor from your home.  One way to do this is to use common household products to kill the unwanted smells and another option is by using cleaners or disinfectants.

Here are some common household odors and tips to combat them in your home from the experts:

Kitchen

Fish or other spolied food:  Place a bowl of white vinegar on the counter for few hours.  The odor will disappear for good.

Sour sponge:  Soak the sponge in lemon juice and rinse it out.  This will remove the odor but keep in mind that it is important to dispose it to keep bacteria from growing.

Dishes and others:   To deodorize utensils with those pungent odors like dishes, cutting boards or pans, simply add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to your dishwasher.

Microwave odors:   It can harbor odors between uses, which can change the smell of foods subsequently cooked in them.  Follow this step, keep a cup of baking soda in the microwave between uses to keep potatoes from smelling like or other unusual odor!

Smelly cooking hands:   This tips works especially well for odor of fish, onions or garlic.  You simply rub your hands over a stainless steel utensil under running water.

Bathroom

We  are familiar to the types of odors that hang out in the bathroom. Experts shares some preventive measure you can take are as follows:

• You can simple sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom of your basket and that will help absord the odors as well.
• Place cotton balls that have been sprayed with your favorite scent in the linen closet.
• To absorb bathroom odor place a shallow dish of baking soda behind the toilet.

Others

Kitty litter:  To keep cat litter fresh smelling, mix baby powder in with the litter and your kitiies will smell good too!

Smelly shoes:  Simply take a few teaspoons of baking soda and put in the center of a cotton cloth.  Tie the cloth and rubber band the edges securely, creating a baking soda sachet.  Put this in the shoe overnight.  In any kind of shoe, these sachets can be used over and over again.

Faucets:   To clean faucet use toothbrush and vinegar.  This will remove hardwater deposit and lime in your faucet.
