Raanana has many interesting restaurants but few of them can really be called romantic, most Raanana restaurants are more like glorified coffee shops, busy fast food restaurants or lively family grill restaurants. Salta is a truly romantic Raanana restaurant, and in which you can easily imagine yourself sitting in a Paris Bistro, although it is authentically Israeli.

Raanana's romantic Salta restaurant is a small intimate restaurant with sitting areas on the sidewalk (the road is quite busy during the day time and perhaps this option is better for evening diners); in the front of the restaurant and in the unusual back part of the restaurant.

The front of the Salta restaurant in Raanana is the size of the average living room, chairs and tables are a collection of mismatched furniture including heavy wooden tables; light garden furniture and unusual metal chairs. There is soft lighting and interesting photographic art on the walls. If you go through the narrow passage, past the kitchen to the back of the restaurant you will find an Aladdin's cave of odds and ends. The décor includes old sewing machines, books, ceramic work, weights and measures, sculptures, spinning wheel, posters, plates, bowls, silver ware, pictures, plants and even baskets of fresh vegetables. As in the front of this Raanana restaurant the tables and chairs are not uniform. There are candles on the tables, the room is long and narrow appearing to have been patched together in someone's garden shed. Gentle music surrounds you as you enjoy an intimate dinner for two.

There is a variety of dairy dishes, hot and cold, including sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, vegan dishes and quiche. The food all has a homemade feel, which it should considering that the owner, his aunt, son and wife are all involved in the running of the restaurant. Salta restaurant in Raanana uses fresh produce prepared to order. I recommend the pasta dishes, the mushroom starter and don't miss a slice of one of their mouth watering cakes. The creamy dairy menu might be too rich for some peoples tastes, in which case opt for the truly Israeli Shakshuka.
