Brent Cook wrote a review of: Amazon Kindle
If you don't have Kindle, let me summarize why it's a must-have for book lovers: - You can read on Kindle for up to a month without charging. - There's no glare on the screen, even on bright sunny day outside. - It has a front-light rather than a back-light so there's no eye strain. - It's super light weighted. - The device doesn't get hot in your hands. - You can look up words instantly by clicking on the word you don't know while read...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Philips Hue Starter Kits
The lights are great and the ability to control them via your smart phone or smart assistant is the best thing ever. Colors - the colors are solid, however if you're using voice commands be specific on the color you want. EG: saying 'hey google turn my lights red' it turns it a pinkish hue, whereas if I say 'hey google turn my lights crimson' it gives them that red you want. Brightness - 800 lumens is a good brightness level, and being able to dim them on com...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Samsung Sound Bars
The Samsung Sound Bars has a solid design, a sleek look, a good, well-balanced, and neutral sound profile. Some soundbars do have a bit of extra bass thanks to their wireless subwoofer. Some negative points are that they are a bit more expensive than similar competing products and Samsung doesn't offer a room correction feature to adapt the audio delivery to your room.

Brent Cook posted an answer to: How good is Samsung QLED TVs' audio quality?
I'm very happy with the sound quality. Samsung has implement a feature called AI-enhanced Intelligent Sound mode that analyses the audio based on the environment and content, and then optimises it accordingly. As a result the sound has more width and depth, creating an acoustic experience that is more defined and immersive.

Brent Cook posted an answer to: How easy is Samsung's QLED TVs to use and set up?
The installation of the TV was very easy and short. You are able to skip some settings if you don't need it immediately like voice assistant, TV channels if you only use streaming etc.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Samsung QLED TVs
I bought the Samsung Q70R last month and I'm impressed by the quality. The biggest reason why I bought a QLED TV is because I’m an Apple fan and these TV’s support AirPlay and Apple TV (which is absent from competitors like Sony and Philips) so it’s very easy to stream from Apple devices to the TV without the need of an additional chromecast device. Moreover, I preferred the Q70R above the Q60R because of the full array dimming option which gives you much better image q...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch has really great graphics and is very fast. It switches super fast from display on the 'mobile screen' to the TV when you put the Switch in the dock. Also super handy that you get an extra controller to play (in which the controllers can be clicked). These also last a very long time on battery. The only disadvantage is that you really have to click the controllers on the device screen to charge them.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Epson Expression Premium XP 7100 Printer
The first XP-7100 had to be returned because of hardware problems. Bought it from Amazon but when I had the problem setting it up and it wouldn't get past the scanner set up, the instruction booklet said to get in touch with Epson. The Epson techies almost immediately decided it was a hardware problem and had me ship it back to Epson and at the same time had one shipped to me. Fortunately I had two other printers to take care of the printing needs.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Anova Precision Cooker
So far this has worked great to cook steaks. The unit seems really solid, is relatively quiet (just a small whine/hum from the circulator) and sleek. I do wish, however, that the clamp was height adjustable. I use it in a 12 qt container, and when it's propped on the side, I pretty much have to have the whole 12 quarts of water in the container to keep the level within the max/min line. When only cooking one steak, it would be more convenient to drop it closer to the bottom of the container a...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Bose QuietComfort
I bought this Bose headphone for the noise cancelling function when I wanted to study in complete silence. They’re comfortable, last a long time, and will only allow outside noise to distract your music if it’s ridiculously loud. I love these headphones, definitely worth the money. (and the google assistant is pretty convenient whenever you get notifications, which is a plus.)

This little GoPro HERO8 is really an impressive little camera. 4K60fps is silky smooth and super clear even at high speed. Wind noise is an issue, but that is to be expected.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Sony Playstation 4 Pro
I purchased the Sony Playstation 4 Pro to replace my Slim for the 4k support. Slim had zero issues in the 3 years of ownership. This console has been just as solid and the file transfer was straight forward. If you use a receiver, make sure it also supports 4k (otherwise you will have to plug directly into TV). Although HDMI cables are kinda a gray area for 4k performance, I wouldn't use the cheapest one you can find.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Apple Watch Series 3
I wasn't sure if I wanted an Apple watch because I was not sure of the usage I would get from it. However, since purchasing it, I have been extremely happy with it. I love that the watch tracks my activity. I am not a fitness buff and I did not really have an interest in tracking my heart rate and steps throughout the day, however, it is fun to look at the statistics and set goals.

These aren't as sturdy as the CK underwear I'm used to. They still look really good, but they seem to be falling apart faster than the other ones I own.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Apple Pencil (2nd generation)
Great upgrade from Apple Pencil First Generation. I use it on my iPad and it works and feels great on the normal screen without a screen protector. The pencil has a nice matte finish and feels great in the hand while drawing or writing down notes. The pressure sensitivity while drawing is also very accurate. And lastly the battery life is great. I definitely recommend this product.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Sonos Beam
I like the sound quality of Sonos speakers, but they are a little pricey. So I purchased the beam and also 2 play 1's for a surround sound effect. The Sonos app is already designed to help you set it up this way, which was a nice feature. However, after adding the surround speakers, for some reason Alexa stopped working. I had to remove Sonos from Alexa, stop voice service on Sonos , they activate again after adding back to Alexa. Luckily I was able to fix it and once fixed, they sounded real...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Nest Hello
With the Google Nest Hello you always know who is at your doorstep at any moment which was the main reason I bought this product. An important note is that you need to have a strong WiFi signal at your front door to use this doorbell. I had to bought a WiFi amplifier because my signal was not strong enough.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Takeya Originals Insulated Water Bottle
I've been using the Takeya Originals vacuum bottle for a month and so far so good. It keep coffee piping hot for a couple hours and even after 5 hours it's still pretty hot. I carry it in my book bag which often gets laid down horizontally and so far no sign of any leaks. I don't use the spout to drink, but it is comforting to know there is a rubber or silicone seal to keep it from leaking when closed. I got it for about $15 and within a couple weeks the bottle will be saving me money versus ...

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Apple AirPods 2
Great headphones if you primarily work with Apple products. Not a lot to offer if you are an Android user. I have bought this for my work phone - doesn't last 5 hours even when listening to at less than 50% volume. Case has enough juice to charge this 2-3 times. Quick Charging is good. I put in case for 15-20 mins and I am good for next 3-4 hours.

Brent Cook wrote a review of: Belkin BOOSTUP Wireless Charging Dock
I bought this for my iPhone 8 since it supports wireless charging, and my AirPods 2 with wireless charging as well. It works great except when I charge my AirPods on it, it doesn't show the current charge that well. But I believe my AirPods may be defective because my iPhone charges really well, so it's just the AirPods I have the issue with. I still recommend it if you will use it for any phone that supports wireless charging.

Brent Cook upvoted Caleb Mitchell's review of Apple AirPods 2
They feel very comfortable, I can spend all day using them without any problem. If the volume is almost at maximum, you practically do not hear any external noise. Less than one hour of charging is enough for about 6 or 7 continuous hours playing music… Simply awesome, without any doubt. But regards the sound quality, I prefer Sony above the Apple AirPods.

So far I have been happy with this purchase. The sound quality is on point and it's easy to use on any type of phone that I have used so far. Brent Cook wrote a review of: Kobo Aura H2o
Pros: Battery life is just what I wanted - long. Size and texture are nice and easy to hold for long periods of time. Backlight is perfect. Very easy to transfer ePub files to it. Navigation is easy, and reasonably fast page turns. Waterproof so perfect when you want to read at a swimming pool. Cons: Not compatible with Amazon Kindle books. This was not a problem for me at all, however, since I do not use Kindle.

Good enough for many tasks, including some software development in X-code, which was surprising. Screen is quite good and does not feel small. Battery life is ok, not great. 2 cores instead of 4, but most tasks only need one core.
