What is Coffee?

Coffee is a popular beverage drunk by millions of people around the world. It consists of coffee beans originally grown from trees in places like Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa. Coffee was first discovered by a goat herder in Ethiopia known by the name of Kaldi. He noticed that his goats were acting frisky after eating the coffee berries. He then chose to try some himself and discovered that it gave him significant energy. The coffee berries were soon transported from Ethiopia to Yemen and later to the rest of the world. Today, billions of cups of coffee are consumed in only a year and is a popular beverage followed by water and tea.

How to Choose Coffee Beans

You might be thinking that coffee is just coffee and there aren’t many kinds. However, you may be surprised to know that the coffee sold in supermarkets is not the best kinds available. If you do get your hands on the good coffee, it is assured that you won’t ever buy coffee from supermarkets again.

Coffee experts have also said that the best kinds are those which are roasted and grounded to provide a greater cup of coffee. The taste is far different to normal coffee and should be purchased. Similar to fruits, vegetables, meats and fish, you want to choose the best brand.

1) Fresh Coffee Beans

Always try believing what you think about the coffee brand you’re buying. The best coffee beans are the ones that are newly fresh and have been roasted a week before your purchase. If you’re in the supermarket, make sure you check the bottom of the coffee jar to find out the roasting date. This will let you know how fresh the coffee is.

2) Broken or Well Shaped

Always remember that the best coffee beans are those which are well shaped and whole that smell good and have a richer flavour. Broken coffee beans have less flavour and will be a waste of your money. If you’re willing to invest money in a variety of brands, you can do so to taste and prefer the flavours of different coffees. Soon you shall be on your way to reaching out for the right one.

3) Store Coffee the Recommended Way

Your favourite coffee could become bad if it isn’t stored in the correct conditions. Coffee is very sensitive to heat and moisture and would need extra care when kept in your home. Find a cool and dry area of your kitchen where moisture and heat are not present in the environment. This should be away from drawers that are closer to the windows.
