"When a serious relationship ends, the parties find no joy in living.  That is because their hearts are wounded-literally- and need to heel for them to get on with their separate lives says a Ph.D.  Until the healing process is complete, men tend to stop caring as much, while women have problems with trusting again. As a result, men may get involved right away, but still they have trouble committing.  On the other hand, women will tend to avoid getting hurt again by not getting involved."  (Gordon, 1998)

Phone listing.  Make a list of at least ten people you could call if the blues hit hard- that way you'll have enough numbers to dial in.

Be active.  Move your body.  Even if it's just through little activities like watering your plants, cleaning the house, or walking your dog.  Dust off you dining chairs or rent roller blades.  Don't just sit there, get up and run says a psychologist.

Broken hearts quotes

Really let go.  Despite the pain, allow pangs moments of emptiness, vivid dreams and memories of time to stay in your minds.  Don't try to reconnect by picking up the phone to call the person you are no longer in a relationship with.  Healing takes place more effectively when you finally really let go.  Until then it is hard to move forward.
