Acne is an inflammatory disease involving the sebaceous glands of the skin, most commonly occurs in the teenage years but it is also seen in adults. This skin disease occurs when follicles of the skin gets blocked. Follicles connect the pores of the skin to the oil glands under the skin. These oil glands create an oily substance called sebum. Follicles remain under the skin and hair grows out of follicles. But when follicles get blocked and sebum builds up under the skin, in this condition lots of bacteria grow and it causes the acne.

Acne is not deadly but it does have some psychological impact. Acne and acne scars are sometimes extremely hard to live with. It can break the self esteem and confidence of the sufferers.

In women, starting and stopping of birth control pills and changes of hormone during pregnancy can also be the causes of acne. In addition, certain types of medication can cause acne too. It is very important to have a good and healthy lifestyle to get rid of acne. You need good sleep at night and should wake up early in the morning. Try to remain stress and anxiety free. Use your face regularly with oil free face wash. Have a healthy balanced diet with lots of vegetables & fruits and do not eat processed foods. You need to drink a lot of water and should drink at least one glass of water every morning in empty stomach.

Remove all your make up at night and wash the face completely. Use night cream that suits your skin type before going to sleep.

Aloe Vera is very good for the skin. Use aloe vera gel on the acne it will soothe the skin. Aloe vera is a natural antibiotic; it cleans the skin and kills the bacteria too.

Apply the paste of crushed mint leaves on acne affected areas. Mint is anti-inflammatory and also analgesic, so it’ll relieve the pain.

Mixture of mint juice and turmeric powder is a good remedy for acne scars. You can apply this mixture on the acne affected areas and then leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Wheat grass juice is a good natural remedy for acne. Try to drink wheat grass juice daily.

The combination of rose water and lemon juice is great for acne cure. Rose water has antibacterial properties and lemon juice is natural astringent. Apply the mix of these two for 15 minutes and then rinse off by water.

• Azadirachta indica (Neem) oil is very good to cure acne. Neem leaves are very good to cure any kinds of skin diseases.

Sandalwood is very good for skin for its antiseptic, anti inflammatory and, astringent properties. It also has disinfectant and emollient properties. Sandalwood paste, sandalwood powder and sandalwood essential oil are very good remedies for acne. Mixture of sandalwood paste and rose water is an excellent remedy for acne scars.

Cleanliness is very necessary. Wash acne affected areas regularly to get rid of bacteria and dirt. Do not try to scratch or touch the affected areas with dirty hands as this can aggravate the acne. So personal hygiene is very important for the cure of acne.
