Gala
The Gala apple is also known as the Royal Gala and is from 1934 New Zealand. It is in season from October to January and is very attractive. Medium in size, it is conical shaped and has yellow skin with bright orange-red shadings.
Gala Supreme
The Gala Supreme is a chance seedling of the Red Delicious. It is like a Gala with its striped red color and flavor, however it is not related.
Galarina
The Galarina is from Angers, France, however it was tested and released by the Quebec Apple Breeding Program. It is a small apple with reddish shades over a green-yellow base. It also has a five-pointed calyx end. The skin is smooth, yet tough and keeps for four months or more.
Gano
The Gano apple is from Kentucky or Missouri, probably the 19th century. It is in season throughout winter and is light yellow with stripes and red flushing.
Garden Royale
The Garden Royale harvests in late Summer to early Fall. It is a very mild fruit colored pale yellow with a splash of orange, red, and green.
Garland
The Garland apple is from 1961 Manitoba and is a disease-resistant McIntosh type of apple.
Geneva
The Geneva apple is from 1930's Ottawa and harvests in September to October. It is ideal for ciders, jellies, and juicing. It is very tart, has a red flesh and is medium in size.
George Carpenter
The George Carpenter apple harvests from November to December and is bright yellow with scarlet hues.
George Cave
The George Cave apple is from 1923 England and harvests from July to mid-August. This apple is light greenish-yellow with a red flush on one half.
Gernes Red Acre
The Gernes Red Acre apple is a glossy deep red with a firm, yellow flesh. Heat resistant and keeps very well.
Gilbert Gold
The Gilbert Gold apple is most likely a russeted sport of the Golden Delicious. It is juicy, sweet, and has a lot of flavor.
Ginger Gold
The Ginger Gold apple is from Virginia and is related to the Golden Delicious. It is in season from August to September and is edible when it is green, but turns a yellow blush when ripened. Very good keeper; up to 6 months.
Gloster
The Gloster apple is from 1969 Germany and ripens late in the season. It is of a conical shape and is red with calyx end shoulder bumps. It is usually around 3 inches in diameter and is quite tart.
