There are over 7,500 kinds of apples. Some apples come from nature, some are genetically made, and others are combined with other seeds to make a unique fruit. This article lists and describes the many varieties of apples that begin with the letter "F."

Fall Pippin

The Fall Pippin is large and yellow with good flavor. Keeps well.

Fallawater

The Fallawater is also known as the Tulpehocken, Mt. Pippin, and Pound apple. It originated in Pennsylvania in the mid-1800's. Harvested in October, it makes a good sauce and is green that turns light green when it ripens. It can reach over 6 inches in diameter.

Fearns Pippin

The Fearns Pippin came from 1780 England is ripens during early Fall. A brilliant scarlet color, it has a lemon-like quality. Tastes slightly like raspberries.

Fiesta

The Fiesta apple harvests during late September or early October and is mostly red over a green base.

Fireside

The Fireside apple is in season from October to January and is quite large. Green skin with scarlet stripes and may also have an orange flush.

Firmgold

The Firmgold apple reaches 3 inches in diameter and it is very sweet.

Florina

The Florina apple is from France and is medium in sizde. Yellow with purple-red on top.

Fortune

The Fortune apple is also known as NY429 and harvests in October. A very spicy eating apple that has a yellow flesh. Pit is very bitter.

Foxwhelp

The Foxwhelp apple has a dusky red color and the flesh is bitter. This apple is only good for ciders.

Franklin

The Franklin apple was introduced by the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station and is in season during October. A mild flavor and is colored very well.

Frauen Rotacher

The Frauen Rotacher apple is also known as the Franc Roseau and came from pre-1850's Switzerland. Medium in size with green-yellow skin striped with red.

Freedom

The Freedom apple is from 1983 New York and is in season from October to November. A multi-purpose apple that is has a nearly invisible skin.

Freyburg

The Freyburg apple comes form New Zealand and harvests in early October. Yellowish-green with russeting. A juicy apple that tastes like a mixture of apples, pears, and bananas.

Fuji

The Fuji apple is well known and is from 1962 Japan. Harvests in late October and is tall, rectangular and has yellow-green skin with an orange flush and darker orange stripes.
