Varieties of Apples: "Br" to "Bz"

This article lists the many varieties of apples that begin with "Br" all the way through to "Bz."

Braeburn

The Braebum apples is an open pollinated seedling of Lady Hamil experts think and is from 1952 New Zealand. It is in season from November to April and is medium in size with a red stripe and orange blush on top of yellow. Tarty in flavor and stores well for 4 months.

Braestar

The Braestar apple is from Havelock, New Zealand and is much more red than the Braebum. It also ripens quicker.

Bramley's Seedling

A Bramley's Seedling apple is from Nottinghamshire, England and was discovered in 1809. It is in season from October to March and is quite large. It is greenish in color with broken red and brown stripes. Very high in vitamin C.

Breakey

The Breakey apple is from 1960's Canada and harvests in mid-August. IT is medium in size and has red stripes on a yellowish-green background.

Breakwell's

Breakwell's apple, also known as Breakwell's Seedling is from 1890 England. Harvest time is from September to October.

Britemac

The Britemac apple was originated in 1964 and harvests in late September. It is a large apple with a bright color. Best used for raw eating.

Brock

The Brock apple is from Maine and is large with pink, red, and cream colors.Mild in flavor.

Brown Sweet

The Brown Sweet apple is in season from September to mid-winter. A large apple that has a cone-like shape to it. The skin of this apple is thick, tough and is green or yellow .

Brownlees' Russet

Brownlees' Russet is from 1846 England and is medium in size, The apple is covered with a brownish-green russet.

Buckingham

The Buckingham apple is also known as the Queen or Fall Queen. It harvests in September and is pale yellow with bright red stripes and white dots. The shape is irregular and it has a tiny core and short stalk. Tastes crisp.

Buff

The Buff apple is also known as the Granny Buff and is from 1854 North Carolina. It harvests in late September or early October. A large fruit, it has a rectangle-type shape and is greenish-white in color.

Bulmer's Norman

From France, the Bulmer's Norman was imported to England in the 1900's and harvests in mid-October. A bittersweet flavor that is best used in ciders.

Burgundy

The Burgandy apple harvests in September and is large, round and has a red-black color with a solid blush. Good for eating, but does not store for more than a month.
