There are so many different varieties of apples that compiling this information requires separate articles. This article will summarize the types of apples from "B" to "Be."

Bailey Sweet

The Bailey Sweet apple is in season from October to January. It is a very sweet variety, but does not keep well. The color of this apple is bright yellow with a dark red spoltched throughout.

Baldwin

The Baldwin apple is also known as the Woodpecker apple and was discovered in Massachusetts in 1740. This apple harvests in October, much remains in season until Febraury. This apple is medium to large in size and is yellow with orange and red stripes. Ideal for ciders and pies.

Ballarat Seedling

The Ballarat Seedling apple is from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia and was discovered in 1870. It harvest in late October and is large in size. It is green in color with a reddish blush. This apple keeps several months without refrigeration - even during those cold winter months.

Barry

The Barry apple originated in 1957 Geneva, New York and is a large apple with a solid red color. This apple last for three months in storage, but grows very slow.

Beacon

The Beacon Apple harvests in late August to September and has a juicy flavor. This apple is great for baking, but does not keep well.

Beautiful Arcade

The Beautiful Arcade comes from Russia and made its way to the United States in the mid-1800's through Canada. Harvest time for the Beautiful Arcade is in September and the coloring is yellow with a splash of red. Does not keep well.

Beauty of Bath

The Beauty of Bath came from Bath, England in 1864. This apple is flat and has a blotty appearance.

Beauty of Stoke

The Beauty of Stoke is another mystery apple. All that is known is that it originated in 1889 England.

Bedfordshire Foundling

The Bedfordshire Foundling is thought of to be from 1800 England. It is angular shaped and is often used for cooking rather than eating raw.

Belle De Boskoop

The Belle De Boskoop is from 1856 Holland and is in season from November to April. This apple keeps a very long time and sweetens with age. It is colored greenish-yellow with red.

Belmac

The Belmac apple comes from Ottawa and is often confused with a McIntosh.

Belmont

The Belmont apple came from 1800's Pennsylvania and is large, yellow, and tender. Very mild taste.

Ben Davis

The Ben Davis apple is in season from late September to April. One of the more beautiful apples, the Ben Davis is bright red in color over yellow. This apple does not have a lot of taste, but keeps throughout winter.

Berne Rose

The Berne Rose is also known as Berner Rosen and came from 1888 Switzerland. Harvest time is early October and it is red and yellow with greenish spots. A good keeper and very sweet.

Bess Pool

The Bess Pool is from Nottinghamshire, England in 1824. Although this apple is sweet, it can also be quite dry.

Beverly Hills

The Beverly Hills apple harvests in August. It is pale green with an orange-red blush along with dark red streaks. Tastes tart.
