Relaxation Meditation: Mediation Techniques

To be able to relax on the physical, mental and emotional levels is very important to maintain optimum health and general wellness. The following meditation technique will help you let go of unwanted thoughts, eliminate unhelpful and unconstructive feelings and banish negativity.

  • Lie down. Steady your breathing. Focus on the breath for 5 minutes; then scan your body for areas of stress, strain and anxiety.
  • Move your awareness from the top of the toes o the head. Be with each part of the body for 2 minutes, then, progress on to the next part. Just be a reflexive observer. Do not dwell on any thought. Thoughts may come uninvited in your mind; let them float away.
  • Visualize a stream of water washing over you, and taking away all pain, hurt, anxiety, stress, fatigue and discomfort.
  • Progressively, you will be able to experience stillness and serenity.
  • Make note of any emotion / thought / feeling that arises, however, do not judge them.
  • Feel a breeze blowing through your mind, making it de-cluttered and clear.
  • Then, lay quitely for a few minutes.

You need to establish a regular habit of meditation; only then will it yield long term and significant health benefits. An everyday session of at least 15 minutes works extremely well. Over a period of time, you will be able to extend your meditation session naturally. Sustained practice is the key.
