Six Symptoms in Your Body You Should Never Ignore

According to a medical doctor money can buy the most efficacious cure, get the best medical advice and prolong life, but it cannot buy good health over the counter.  That is why the riches among us would trade all their wealth for a sound mind and a sound body.

No one goes through life without experiencing some medical complaint.  Although such complaint might seem to be very minor, it would be worth taking another look at some of them.

  • Fatigue or tireness is normal after heavy mental or physical work.  Fatigue can also occur, however as a result of an acute infection like influenza, as a result of anemia, or chronic infection like TB, diabetes, toxic goiter, lung problem, heart failure and depression.  According to a medical doctor, if you notice that you are getting more tired than usual see your doctor.  Try to get more rest; learn to relax; exercise regularly to keep your lungs, heart and muscles healthy.  Do not take any alcohol or medicine to make you sleep if you cannot sleep because of fatigue since these have a side effects and they can be addictive.
  • Cough can be reaction to extremes of temperature or to an inflammation of the respiratory tract.   Cough is one of the defense mechanisms of the body to get rid of some foreign objects or irritants, like when one inhales noxious fumes, dust, cigarette smoke or when food or water goes to the air passage.  The presence of cough (especially if this has become severe) associated with unexplained weight loss, especially of the patient or his/her partner is a heavy cigarette smoker; should make one suspect the worst- lung cancer.
  • Heavy/irregular menstrual bleeding is experienced by many women at one time or another.  According to a medical doctor if the situation persists or the woman develops vaginal bleeding in between periods, the following should be taken into consideration:  early sign of menopause; hormonal imbalance; stress or a thyroid gland disorder.  See your gynecologist, especially if you already have a menopausal symptoms.
  • Chest pain is almost always associated with a heart attack.  Among the most common causes of chest pain are muscle strain and the swelling of ribs or sometimes, a patient who is having a heart attack will complain of pain at the pit of the stomach.

  •  Double vision, medically known as diplopia, means that you see two distinct images, instead of one, when there is actually only one object.  According to a medical doctor, if this happens without any apparent  reason and in an uncontrolled manner, chances are it is due to an imbalance in the pull of the eye.  It can also be an important sign of a more serious condition as high blood pressure or even a brain tumor.  It is advisable to see a ophthalmologist and have a neurologic examination as soon as it is convenient.

  • A changing mole may be a warning sign of something more serious . According to a dermatologist, a person has many moles in one's body- some even as many as one hundred!  These are usually harmless.  However, if any one of these starts to show some changes, it becomes itchy, changes in shape or color, increases in size or or it starts to bleed, it might be a warning sign for a beginning melanoma, a type of skin cancer.  What to do: see your doctor or a dermatologist.
