Those garden slugs are very annoying and a curse to each and every person’s garden. We all know that these slimy pests can do major damage to our crops as they find our plants to be a good source of food for them. Slugs do eat crops, but are you willing to sacrifice your plants for these pests? These slugs hide during the day under damp conditions and hunt throughout the night to eat their favourites. Are there any ways to get rid of them? Let’s read below!

There are certain chemical slug control pesticides that do work quite nicely but have environmental effects which will harm birds, pets and other wildlife. This is why non-chemical pesticides are recommended to secure the environment while doing its slug killing job.

1) Remove their homes!

Many slugs and insects live under damp areas where living conditions are most comforting. These areas can be rocky, damp and moist. Explore through cracks under the garden flow, walls and under plant pots. You will be surprised to discover how many of these nasty plant eating insects you will find! Remove all rocks from your garden and keep everything very tidy. Litter and soil around your yard will attract more of these insects including ants and they would eventually eat everything. Avoid bringing in rocks to keep the insects away.

2) Using baits!

Slugs are attracted to a number of things. Using baits can attract plenty of slugs for you all night and can help you get rid of them in mass populations. Baits include beer and orange peels. Different beers vary in performance. Budweiser and Michelob are known as a few of the best performers in attracting slugs than other brands. Use them yourself and discover the results.

3) Snails hate Eggshells!

Yes! Snails do hate eggshells. It seems as though eggshells have been widely used as a useful deterrent to keep snails away from crops. They feel threatened by them due to its sharp edges. To use eggshells, just simply break the eggshells into small pieces and distribute it across your garden and around the endangered crops. You should soon see a huge difference in your plants health. Eggshells can also be a good food source for plants as it restores and provides extra nutrients for the soil!

4) Trim your hair and don’t throw it away!

Slugs also hate your hair! You can scatter your trimmed hair around your garden to keep slugs away. However, it could make your garden look a little ugly. But are you willing to have your garden eaten up by these monsters?

5) Slug predators!

There are many slug predators that eat slugs away. Allowing them to live in your garden can help decrease the slug population and make you do less of the work. These predators are:

· Ground Beetles

· Frogs

· Birds

Conclusion

There are plenty of tools a person could use to tackle the slimy monsters. Rather than using toxic slug pellets and harming the environment, save the wildlife and your garden!
