Preschoolers are very young so they need to know that they are all special in some way from their classmates. Young children want to identify themselves from their peers so they sometimes do other things other than what their peers or classmates are doing. This should be addressed properly so that the young kids will know that they are special.

There are many activities that will make the preschoolers realize how special they are. Since they are all young kids and you cannot treat one child different from the other; it is important that each child has a place inside the preschool classroom and be able to work comfortably with the other children.

Giving the kids I am special activities will help them feel how important they are in the classroom.

Here are some I am special activities that preschoolers could have fun with.

Drawing

Drawing is good for the children as a way of expressing themselves and showing how special they are. You can let the preschoolers draw themselves and color the picture. The way they draw themselves will express how they feel about themselves. Some children may draw themselves with ribbons and colorful dress. Others may draw themselves without clothes on. It doesn’t matter how they draw, the important thing is that they are expressing how they feel about themselves.

Performing in front of the class

Each child wants to perform because they want to show their classmates that they are good. Whether it is a song, a dance, a poem or anything that the child wants to do, it is important that they feel recognized in what they love doing. Young children want to display things that they are capable of doing. This is one way of reminding other people that they are special in some ways and different from their peers. You should try to appreciate what the preschoolers will do in front of the class, whether the child has done well or the child merely stood in front, it is important for the child to know that she or he is being appreciated by standing in front of the class. There are some kids who do not respond no matter how you convince them. This is a problem that often occurs in a classroom especially among very young kids. The best way to handle this is to leave the child alone first. Forcing the child to perform will not help.

Recitation

Kids love to recite. Whether they are wrong or right; kids love to show off what they know to other children. It is important to entertain all the children’s answers. If a child answers wrong; the best thing to do is correct the child nicely. Children easily get annoyed and embarrassed if people correct them. In order to handle this situation properly; you must do it in a nice way and never say straight to the preschooler that she or he is wrong. If you do that, the child will refuse to answer or join activities the next time. As a preschool teacher, always make sure that you are properly addressing each problem in the classroom of very young children. Young kids need an understanding and kind teacher who is there to guide them through.

There are more fun I am special activities for children; just choose what fits their needs.
