Dark circles are annoying. It makes you look tired, older than your actual age and diminishes your appearance. Sadly most of us at some point of time deal with this frustrating problem. Certainly there are few ways to get rid of dark circles or undereye circles. But before that let’s find out what causes undereye circles.

Causes of Dark Circles or Undereye circles

There are many reasons that can cause dark circles or undereye circles. Generally it happens due to stress and lack of sleep. Any kind of deficiency or some disease or improper diet can also cause dark circles. Dark circle can be genetic. That means it can run in the family. Another reason of dark circles or undereye circles can be allergies and eczema. Certain foods can be responsible for dark circles. Dark circles can be caused due to aging. As we grow older there are greater chances that we may develop dirk circles or undereye circles. With the growing age they become more prominent.

Getting rid of dark circles or prevention of dark circles is possible. Given below are some points that will you to get rid of undereye circles or dark circles.

Dark Circles or Undereye Circles Remedy

  • If you don’t get enough sleep it can cause dark circles. So it is very important to get enough sleep every night. Lack of sleep reduces circulation and it makes the skin paler. Adequate sleep can prevent or reduce the undereye circles.
  • Drink lots of water. You need to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water everyday. Water hydrates the skin and improves its appearance. So drinking lots of water does help.
  • Smoking and alcohol are bad for skin. Also, these habits can badly affect your sleep. Therefore, you should avoid these habits completely or you should limit your intake of alcohol. And for the smokers only one thing can be said – do not smoke.
  • Eat a good balanced diet. This is extremely important. Eat lots of green vegetables, foods with high amount of vitamins, calcium, magnesium and iron. Iron rich foods are helpful to reduce undereye circles or dark circles.
  • Almond oil is very good for skin. Message with almond oil beneath and around the eyes does help to reduce dark circles. Cut two thin slices on cucumber and put it over your closed eyes for fifteen minutes or so; it really helps. Another helpful remedy is place two cold tea bags over your closed eyes for about ten minutes. You can drink tomato juice with mint leaves, lemon juice and salt. You can also apply a mixture of lemon and tomato juice on the dark circles twice a day.
  • If you want cover the dark circles then you can use good concealer. This works for a short period of time. You should skin cream or eye cream that contains Vitamin K and retinol. Skin creams containing these are very good for reducing dark circles.
  • Do not rub your eyes. This can result puffiness and discoloration.
  • Quit smoking, avoid caffeine, reduce salt intake and consume less sugar.
  • Fresh figs are good for the eyes. Cut fresh figs and put them under the eyes for thirty minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
  • Every night before going to bed massage dark circles with any cold cream. Also, there are overnight facial masques are available which are useful to reduce dark circles or undereye circles.
