How Do You Write the Perfect Article Title?

Title choice is extremely important in SEO, in fact, it may be the most important thing of all, at least for the average web user. A title is the first thing that Google look at when choosing your article, blog or website for a particular Google search.

Don't Talk to People in Your Titles Unless You're Saying What They Might Type

What you have to realize when writing an article title, is that you have to write the title as if you were the one doing the Google search. You can't just type in something that you would say in real life, when talking to a friend, because in most cases, they won't be searching for that.

For example, you would never write an article title using "you", because most Google searches are done from the "I" perspective. The only exception to this rule is: how do you, can you, or where do you. This version of "you" basically means how do I at the same time.

The problem would be a title like: Have you tried the new Resident Evil game? This is an article title that barely anyone would ever type into a Google search, and would get barely any traffic at all, unless they did a Google search on: the new Resident Evil game.

You can't write article titles as if you are talking to people, because they can't hear you, until they see your title in a Google search, and for them to see that title, and the meta description that goes with it, they need to type into Google almost exactly the same words as your title.

Try Writing Titles as a Question Users Would ask

My most successful article title ever was: What are the Most Googled Words on Google? It's a simple, straightforward question, and while you would think it had a lot of competition, for some reason I was able to get it onto the first page of Google searches around the world.

Apart from the article title, I also used many other SEO methods, such as keywords, back links etc, but mostly, I was lucky enough to choose an article title that would have a lot of people searching it, and that didn't have huge competition from big websites, (apart from Google itself).

The moral of the story? Choose an article title that you believe will get thousands of searches a day. Learn SEO, and don't forget about your article. Keep building back links, keep promoting it, and only give up if it is not on the first page after a month or two of solid efforts.

You can get onto the first page of almost any Google search, even the really big ones, but obviously, it's a little hard to go head to head with the big boys. If you are going to write an article about God, weight loss, doctors, lawywers, etc, make sure you have a unique angle on it.
