Warning: Please note that this is a detailed summary of the first two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy’ 7th season and there are spoilers.

If you want to remember what happened in the season six finale, you might want to check out 6 Shows and Their Season Finales: Castle, House, Cougar Town, The Mentalist, Gossip Girl and Grey’s Anatomy

In that article, I had concluded that they would all need therapy, and the show logically starts as we witness their Post Traumatic Stress and how each of them tries to deal with it.

After the shooting that killed many doctors and left the rest injured and/or traumatized, the surgeons related to the shooting are now seeing a psychiatrist (James Tupper), waiting to be cleared for surgery again.

During the sixth season finale, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) was pregnant, and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) was shot. Christina (Sandra Oh) had to perform a surgery with a gun to her head. The only target was Derek, as the killer was a man who had lost his wife in the hospital and he wanted to keep her hooked to the machines. Her brain was dead, so Derek – as the hospital’s chief- ordered that she would be removed. The man got really angry and well, in the last episode, what turned out to be a vengeance hunt for Derek turned into a killing spree. Meredith lost her baby.

Alex (Justin Chambers) got shot, several doctors who had come to Seattle Grace from Mercy West were killed. While Alex was in pain, he was mumbling about Izzie (Katherine Heigl), a former main character of the show – his ex-wife. Of course Alex was seeing Lexie Grey- Meredith’s sister (Chyler Leigh) at the time. Lexie’s going off the rails about a patient after the incident and Alex’s reaction ended their relationship.

Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) has returned from a-month trip to her mom’s and her post traumatic stress is preventing her from going back to her romantic relationship she was having with one of the fellow doctors. She is also pissed that Alex insists on keeping the bullet inside of him and is forcing him to have it removed.

Meanwhile, Meredith still hasn’t told Derek about the baby. And Derek has turned into a speeding junkie, constantly ending up in jail because of reckless driving. He also quits his job as Chief and the old chief Richard (James Pickens Jr.) reassumes this position. The psychiatrist hasn’t still cleared Meredith for surgery and this is also driving her crazy.

Owen (Kevin McKidd) has asked Christina to marry him and Christina seems more concerned about organizing her wedding then performing surgeries and this is freaking Meredith out.

Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), Lexie’s ex - is doing her best to protect her. Lexie is getting sick of this but she is not fully aware that Sloan is totally in love with her.

Torres (Sara Ramirez) had ended up reconciling with her girlfriend Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and this season, she asks her to move in. Arizona says yes, relieved that Torres isn’t pressuring her into having kids again.

Teddy (Kim Raver – Lipstick Jungle’s Nico, 24’s Audrey) – Owen’s ex flame - seems OK with the fact that Owen is marrying Christina. After all, she is dating the psychiatrist and it seems to be going well. Teddy and Owen also involve Christina in her first surgery after the shooting, but unfortunately Christina freaks out in the middle of the operation.

Owen and Christina get married, but Meredith leaves Derek in jail so that he will learn and miss the wedding. He is mad about having spent the night in jail, but Meredith tells him about the baby and her fears and they make up.

Owen does her best so that Christina will adjust to being married and Torres tries getting used to Arizona’s redecorating ideas. Meredith is finally cleared for surgery. Sloan fails to tell Lexie about how he feels when she asks him to back out and Miranda finally removes the bullet Alex is so proud of.
