While all sorts of animals are favorite subjects of animation films, the animals listed below actually either acted in the film with other actors, or the actors were live and the animals were added with computer effects. And since leading animal characters would be so obvious, I didn’t feature films like Beethoven, Garfield or Alvin and The Chipmunks.

*The Chipmunk in Enchanted – Enchanted starring Amy Adams, James Marsden and Patrick Dempsey

Enchanted is an interesting Disney production that starts as an animation and turns into a movie with actual actors after the first 15 minutes or so. The story starts when the Princess finally finds her Prince Charming, only to be tricked by his wicked witch stepmother on their wedding day and sent into the real world New York. There, our cartoon princess takes the form of the twice Oscar-nominee actress Amy Adams. The Prince follows the girl into the real world and turns into James Marsden (X-Men trilogy, 24th Day).

And the princess’ best friend- a chipmunk - also chooses to follow her. The chipmunk has quite a significant role as he does his best to warn the princess of her evil future mother-in-law’s plans – she has sent her loyal servant to kill her. But of course the chipmunk can’t speak in the real world and the prince is too clueless to interpret him correctly. Moreover, the princess is in the danger of falling for a non-fairy tale character: a divorce lawyer played by none other than Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy Patrick Dempsey.

*The Mouse in Stardust – Stardust starring Michelle Pfieffer, Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Robert De Niro & Mark Strong

Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel Stardust, the movie tells the intersecting tales that take place in a village called The Wall, that neighbors the magical kingdom called Stormhold. Residents of The Wall are forbidden to cross the wall that separates these two places however curiosity gets the best of young Dunstan (Ben Barnes) and he crosses to the other side. This results in a magical night with a witch’s slave (Kate Magowan) and 9 months later, Dunstan receives a baby. When his son Tristan (Charlie Cox) grows up, he becomes infatuated by a beautiful young woman named Victoria (Sienna Miller). Victoria is much more interested in the well-off Humphrey (Henry Cavill) so she says that she will only marry Tristan if he brings her a star. The pursuit introduces him to the magical world of Stormhold, as well as Yvaine (Claire Danes), a beautiful young woman who happens to be a star that fell from the sky. Now, he needs to take Yvaine to Victoria. Problem is, they are being chased by a youth-obsessed witch (Michelle Pfeiffer) who wants Yvonne’s heart and throne-obsessed princes (one of them played by Mark Strong) who need Yvaine necklace, caught by lightning-catching air-pirates (lead by their Captain- played by Robert De Niro). And of course the fact that Yvaine falls for Tristan doesn’t make her life any easier.

When they get a ride from a witch who doesn’t notice Yvaine, she turns Tristan into a mouse so that he can travel safely. Yvaine thinks Tristan in the mouse form can’t possibly understand what she is talking about so she confesses her love. But of course “the mouse” has understood every word. When Tristan is back to his human self, he confesses to a very embarrassed Yvaine that he feels the same way. The mouse is the highlight thats bring out the romantic climax.
