"The beginning of spring, the season of flowers.  It is that time of the year when the frozen earth begins to sprout the first signs of verdant life and once-barren branches show off leaves.  One cannot think of spring without imagining roses and daisies and all the other colorful and fragrant blooms that one can ever imagine.  According to a florist, anyone can gather flowers, dry  them and make beautiful arrangements at home.  You just can't do it overnight.  The flowers have to be picked and prepared for the drying process.Furthermore, you'll need somewhere to hang bunches of flowers for air-drying.  You'll also need some rubber bands to bind the flowers."  (Hyatt, 2000)

Cut flowers need to be stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.  Experts prefers a warm place to dry flowers because warm provides more vibrant or crisper color, though some people prefer cool air, which makes colors more softer.  Flowers can be be dried in containers.  Drying flowers is good for drying mass quantities and it is advisable to  use drying substance called desiccants.

You have to layer the flowers in containers and carefully cover with whichever you're using.  You must check on them every day says an expert.  You have to remove the desiccants with fine brush before you use the flower.  Flowers tend to absorb more humidity if dried in desiccant than if you air-dry them.  So you have to protect them in airtight container until ready to use.

How to dry flowers

"A homemaker dream is to have flowers and plants not only outside in a garden, but inside as well.   Floral artists are always quick to point out that it is not always the quality of individual flowers that matter but the way, they are put together.   Flowers may be a luxury, but they are one of nature's gifts that must be savored and enjoyed much.
