The following the chief causes for the development of cystic acne:
- Poor skin care regimen: Inadequate and irregular cleansing of the skin, results in blocking of the skin pores, which is known to activate acne formation.
- Cosmetics and skin care products: The use of products that have an oil base, or using products that are very harsh, have a detrimental impact on your skin.
- Hormone changes: An alteration in your hormone profile is a very important cause for cystic acne.
- Irregular diet: Your diet has a key role to play in the incidence of cystic acne. Food allergies are known to trigger the occurrence of acne. Common triggering foods are: fried and greasy foods, milk, chocolate, cheese, meat, aerated drinks, white flour, white sugar, trans fat and refined and denatured foods.
Cystic Acne Diet
Ensure that you follow a regular and wholesome diet, incorporating the following foods to fight acne and achieve a beautiful skin:
- Vitamin A rich foods: include plenty of tomatoes, mangoes, spinach, pumpkin, papaya and carrots in your diet. They provide you with generous amounts of vitamin A; that is very vital for healthy skin.
- Vitamin C rich foods: vitamin C promotes quick healing of blemishes and acne scars. Lemons, cherries, oranges, mangoes, bell peppers and berries give you great amounts of vitamin C.
- Zinc rich foods: zinc is a very important mineral to battle acne effectively and successfully. Rich sources are: walnuts, cashews, almonds, oysters, wheat germ and soy.
Cystic Acne Home Treatment
Once a week scrub your face gently using a home made scrub such as pounded cinnamon, ground oats or coarsely powdered walnuts. Rinse you face and pat dry.
Steam your face for 5 to 7 minutes, after that. Steaming opens up the pores and throws out grease, dirt and toxins. Remember to apply ice after you steam your face, to close the pores.
On a daily basis apply a vitamin E cream and leave on for 15 minutes. Wipe with a tissue and rinse your face with cold water.
Cystic Acne Home Remedy
- Lemon: apply lime juice and keep for about 10 minutes. Lime gets rid of surplus oil and fights infections as well.
- Oat meal: oatmeal can be used as a scrub or a face pack. Mix together 1 spoon of oat meal, 1 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon and 1 spoon of honey. Leave on for half an hour; then rinse with plain water.
- Aloe Vera: aloe vera is known to soothe an irritated and inflamed skin. It heals acne scars efficiently. Aloe vera also makes the skin smooth and closes enlarged pores quickly.
- Turmeric: turmeric is an amazing anti septic. Mix 1 spoon of powdered turmeric with water. Apply the paste all over your face. Leave till it dries up. Wash off.
