California Job Security After Taking Family and Medical Leave
EducationCalifornia Job Security After Taking Family and Medical Leave
The minutes tick off the clock while a Californian takes leave from work, but the days do not come off the work record. Workers do not lose their employee status or a single day of service for their employer.
The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) guarantees workers do not lose the main rewards they earn by working.
A Worker Missed
Employers count on their workers in California, but they do not ask them to do more than what is good for both the company and the worker. Leave is an expected part of the whole work experience. Employers want their worker to last on the job and do not lessen the employment agreement when their worker decides health or family comes first, for a short time. Their worker might be missed but they do not need to be taught any lessons for taking leave.
A Job In Hand
Neither side gives up any responsibility. The Californian will return to work for the employer. And they have a job. A secure job. Their employment status is the same as the day they left. Employed. The employment agreement still gives the Californian every opportunity to produce for the enterprise and get rewarded for their contribution.
No Break In Service
Californians do not have to account for their time off work. The longevity they would have while working does not stop during leave. Their service keeps going until the day they return to work. The days on leave add to their seniority.
Days that earn workers more rewards described in a collective bargaining agreement keep adding up. Leave is not wasted time in service just like it is not for workers with their own contract.
Fair Opportunities
Workers can count on getting in return what they put in in work. And, the most committed and hard working will not lose anything. Their work service starts again exactly where they left off. Promotions and job assignments still go to the longest serving worker. Without question, seniority earns company rewards. Benefits counts look larger like the service counts. The leaders in service length get their entire tall stack of vacation days.
Loyal during the days of work done before they left and the day they return, the Californian has made their role at the company important. Their work is all counted when it comes time for an employer to make layoffs or decide on a recall.
The California Family Rights Act says that is the right way to match a worker's contribution.
The Work Scale Weight
Taking leave does not limit the merit earned at work. For every hour served for the company, an hour is kept on the company record.
