Money may not be everything in life but it could buy the things that people choose to have or the difference between having a roof over their heads or living on the street.

Money may not be everything but it can buy happiness, freedom and your choice. People think that money is not what they want in life. That they want a simple and humble life minus all the material things that money could buy and the luxuries that go with a comfortable life. But they are sometimes not telling the truth. First, because when people don’t have money to buy what they need, things change and people will wish to have money. Second, everybody needs money to buy what they need and make life more comfortable.

Some people hate money because they think that money is the root of all evil, just like what the popular saying states. But money could only become evil when people choose to use money improperly. When people crave for money but they don’t strive hard to get it, that’s the time when temptations set in and money becomes evil. But otherwise, money is not evil in the right sense for people who are working hard to have money in their pocket.

Here are reasons why people want to have money:

Survival

How can you survive without money in this type of world we are in? Money buys the needs of people. Without money, survival is impossible.

What do we actually need to survive? Without question, we all need air, water, food and shelter. Air is free, and water used to be free and still is in some cases. That leaves food and shelter, and without money, it is very hard to find food and shelter. So money is absolutely necessary for food and shelter.

In today’s world, shelter has become expensive, at least in the United States where housing costs have skyrocketed in recent years. This makes for a scary scenario when a person or family is living paycheck to paycheck, and one problem like loss of job can mean the difference between having a home and living in their car or on the street.

Peace of Mind

There is also a difference between peace of mind and comfort, happiness or harmony, though piece of mind contributes to all three. Peace of mind basically means that you have money saved up that you can use if something happens like a loss of job or some other situation that is not in your control.

Being able to save money and knowing it is there if you should ever need it, is a great peace of mind that certainly contributes to harmony.

Comfort

Money can buy comfort for a person. People want a comfortable life. They want to buy good food, wear comfortable clothes, have a house to go home to after work and sleep on a soft bed when they come from work very tired. If you don’t have money, you will perhaps be out in the streets begging for money without footwear and with an empty stomach.

Happiness

Most people think that money cannot buy happiness which is very true. But when we look at the perspective of things, it is wrong to say that money cannot buy happiness. A person cannot be happy without money to buy what he wants. If he has a family, he wishes all the good things for them. If he has no money how could he provide for his family’s needs and make them happy? Money may not be the exact happiness to people but it sure can buy things that can make people happy.

Harmony

The trend in every family is to have harmony whatever the situation is. But how can a household be harmonious if there is no money to buy the daily necessities? People, no matter who they are, whether they are rich or they are poor need things in order to live a life they want, enjoy and be content with. Without money, harmony would be too hard to achieve. The usual problem in most households especially today is money. A family needs money to buy food, clothes, house and other needs.

Although money is not everything, it can always make life more comfortable thus happier and more harmonious too.
