These are the tallest buildings in Atlanta, Georgia. All the buildings over 700 feet in height are listed. Most of the tallest buildings in the city are centrally located downtown on or near Peachtree Street. A couple of these buildings are already hotels or planning to convert space into a hotel and the rest are located near Atlanta's best hotels and restaurants. 1) Bank of America Plaza - 1,023 feet
The Bank of America Plaza is located 600 Peachtree Street NE and is the tallest building in Atlanta, the 9th tallest building in the United States and 42nd tallest building in the world. The Bank of America Plaza has 55 floors and was completed in 1992 and plans are underway to convert the bottom 16 floors into a five star hotel. Bank of America Plaza is the tallest building in any capital city in the United States.
2) SunTrust Plaza - 871 feet
SunTrust Plaza is located at 303 Peachtree Street NE and when completed in 1992 was part of the Peachtree Center complex which includes a large underground mall, a number of hotels and restaurants and office buildings. The developer of SunTrust Plaza and the Peachtree Center went bankrupt in the early 1990's and sold half this 60 story building to SunTrust Bank and that became the name of the building.
3) One Atlantic Center or IBM Tower - 820 feet
One Atlantic Center which is also known as IBM Tower is located at 1201 West Peachtree Street and when completed in 1987 was the tallest building in Atlanta until the Bank of America Plaza was completed in 1992. Today One Atlantic Center or IBM Tower is the 3rd tallest building in Atlanta and houses the southeastern headquarters of IBM and is conveniently located near Atlanta's best hotels and restaurants.
4) 191 Peachtree Tower - 770 feet
191 Peachtree Tower contains 50 floors and was completed in 1990 as one of the city's most distinctive office buildings.
5) Westin Peachtree Plaza - 723 feet
The Westin Peachtree Plaza is located at 210 Peachtree Street and is perhaps the most distinctive tall building on Atlanta's pretty skyline. It is one of the tallest hotel buildings in the world and was the tallest building in Atlanta from the date is was completed in 1976 until One Atlantic Center was completed in 1992. The Westin Peachtree Plaza had over 500 windows broken when a tornado ripped through Atlanta in March of 2008.
