Cherries are stone fruits related to plums, peaches and nectarines. They have existed far into the past during the Stone Age. While in conquest, Romans used to carry them for consumption throughout Europe and England. To prove this statement, many pits were found in caves across the continent.
You should know that two types of cherries exist. Sweet cherries are the ones that can be found in local supermarkets and stores. While the tart cherry also known as the sour cherries, can be grown in your own garden. The tart cherry is a healthier type than the sweet version because it contains more vitamin C and beta carotene with fewer calories.
Most of our cherries grow in a few states of the United States including Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Though, they are also grown in several regions across the UK.

Two types Along with cherries, other fruits and vegetables are alternative medicines that reduce the risk of chronic diseases and illnesses including cardiovascular disease and cancer. A major bioactive compound in fruits and vegetables is the cause of health benefits. Apart from this compound, cherries are rich in protein, vitamin C, sugar, ascorbic acid, minerals and antioxidants. Nevertheless, it is important that you include cherries in your daily diet.
• Cherries have Anthocyanins
Anthocyanin is an antioxidant which helps protect many body parts and systems. Studies have researched and have confirmed that tart red cherries helps patients who have autoimmune neurodegenerative disease, connective tissue diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. The Anthocyanin antioxidant can also protect patients against cancer, reduce pain from inflammation and even prevent muscle pain which can occur from rigorous exercise. If cherries are consumed on a daily diet, it can also help decrease potential muscle damage from exercise.

Cherries are very good at preventing some cancers. A study was taken on mice that were prone to colon cancer and resulted in a reduction of tumours.

This wonderful fruit and medicine tastes so delicious that it should be consumed as a snack apart from the unhealthy junk like chips and chocolate bars. Cherries can be kept frozen, dried, canned and even juiced. The fruit would still keep the same level of sustenance.
