Clever and Cheap Ways to Clean Your Toilet Bowl
The toilet bowl is our own private throne. It should be kept clean at all times. Here are cheap solutions to help you keep your toilet bowl fresh and squeaky clean.
Scour it.
The classic way to clean it is to sprinkle scouring powder on the stained areas of your wet toilet bowl just before you take a shower. Leave it for a few minutes then swish it with the toilet bowl brush.
Bleach it.
Swab on undiluted chlorine bleach on your toilet bowl and leave it for a few minutes. Brush and rinse it afterwards.
Before you leave the house for an errand or a stroll, pour one-quarter cup of bleach in your toilet bowl. Just flush it when you get back. BUT do not put bleach in your toilet bowl if you are using a tank-held cleaner (the one that works each time you flush). It might contain ammonia which is not good when mixed together with bleach because it releases toxic fumes.
Toilet ring solutions
Make a paste made out of borax and lemon juice. Wet your toilet bowl then rub the mixture on the toilet ring. Let it stand for two hours then scrub it off. When you flush the toilet bowl, the ring is gone.
You can also use white vinegar to clean this toilet bowl ring. Pour in half a gallon of vinegar once a month and let it sit overnight. When you wake up in the morning, the vinegar has done its work. All you have to do is flush it.
Cola or juice or soda
Treat your toilet bowl to a serving of cola. Do you have leftover cola drinks from a party? Instead of pouring them down the drain, pour it in the toilet bowl instead. Let it soak for about an hour and you’ll do your toilet bowl a great favor.
For an instant citrus freshness with your cleaning, sprinkle half a cup of Tang juice powder mix into your toilet bowl. Leave it on for a couple of hours, scrub, then flush.
For a longer-lasting odor-fighting remedy, pour in one cup of baking soda once a week.
Overnight ease
Another effortless way to clean and freshen your toilet bowl is to drop a couple of denture tablets into the bowl just before you go to bed at night. In the morning, give it a swish with the toilet brush, and you now have a cleaner and fresher bowl.

Peroxide and water solution makes a good disinfectant solution also and can be used in place of bleach.
