Litchfield Villa Castle
Located at 95 Prospect Park West and 5th Street in Brooklyn is the Italianiate style Litchfield Villa Castle. Built in 1854 for millionaire railroad magnate Edwin Clark Litchfield today the Litchfield Villa Castle houses the offices of the Prospect Park Administrator and is open to the public.
Herman Behr Mansion
Located at 82 Pierrepont Street in the Brooklyn Heights section of Brooklyn, New York is the Romanesque Revival style Herman Behr Mansion Castle. Built in 1888-1889 by millionaire industrialist Herman Behr the house served as the home of the Behr family until 1919 when it was sold and turned into the Hotel Palm. The Herman Behr Mansion stayed a hotel until the 1960's when it became a bordello for a time and then was owned by Franciscan monks and then became rental apartments. This castle-like building was sold in 2008 for just under $11 million dollars.
18th Precinct Castle
Located near 4th Avenue in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn is the 18th Precinct Castle. This castle-like building used to house the 18th Precinct of the police department in Brooklyn.
U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse Building Castle
Located at 271 Cadman Plaza East in Brooklyn, New York City is the Romanesque Revival architectural style U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse Building which resembles a castle. Built from 1885-1891 the U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse Building Castle was constructed as a post office and courthouse and still houses postal services and courthouses today. In 1999 the USGA bought the castle-like building and renovated it and added the offices of the U.S. Attorney.
