Different types of cancer causes deaths at various rates. Out of all cancers, lung and pancreas cancer is the worst and they usually cause death within a year. Cancer can be treated although it may well be difficult. This article gives you 2 common ways of treating cancer. These treatments include:

• Surgery

• Radiography

There are other treatments for cancer. These are:

• Chemotherapy

• Hormone Therapy

• Biological Therapy

1) Surgery

This is the most common and oldest method for treatment. The purpose of the surgery is to remove all of the cancer cells that are present in a particular location of the body. Not all operations can go successful but this depends on the size of the body part and the overall size of the affected area. Cancer won’t spread through air contact so you do not need to worry if your doctor or anyone else will catch the disease.

Not all cancers can be fully operated and removed with surgery. This is likely to occur if the size of the cancer is too large or is in an area where surgery cannot do the job. Once most of the cancer has been removed by surgery operation, other methods of treatment will be used such as radiotherapy.

Side effects of surgery treatment include:

• Coughing

• Build up of fluid in the chest

• Difficulty breathing

• Pain in the chest

• Loss of strength and energy

2) Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is another treatment used for a number of cancers. It works by destroying the DNA found inside cancer cells. This prevents them from reproducing and eventually kills them.

The external treatment can be done with a machine which aims the targeted area where infection has taken place. External treatment won’t cause you to become radioactive, though internal Brachytherapy treatment will do so. After completing your Brachytherapy treatment, patients will have to stay inside the hospital until they are safe.

Another Internal treatment can be done by injecting into a vein, capsules to swallow or liquids to drink. For cancers like prostate cancer, small seeds will be placed in your prostate gland and will release a small dose of radiation to kill the cancer.

Throughout the operation, there is no worry for pain because it is painless. However, there are side effects that are temporary. These side effects will occur on areas that have been treated and will be notified to you by the doctor before the treatment begins. A number of side effects include:

• Tiredness

• Nausea

• Diarrhoea

• Itchy and sore skin

• Coughing

• Sore throat

• Hair loss in the area treated

• Losing weight

• Feeling depressed

• Joint and muscle stiffness

Conclusion

Overall, cancer treatment can be painful and a long process which lasts for several weeks. It is vital to undergo the treatments to ensure a better and longer life ahead with your beloved ones.
