Education4 Psycho Rock Songs Feat. Def Leppard, Talking Heads, Bon Jovi and The Smiths
This article is a sequel to the factoid 5 Psycho Rock Songs Featuring Nick Cave, Def Leppard, The Police, Metallica and Guns N' Roses.
This article also features Def Leppard, but it is a different song from the same album (Retro Active).
The Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
The Smiths is a British alternative rock band founded in 1982 and that broke up in 1987. There is a light that never goes out is from their third album The Queen is Dead, released in 1986.
The song starts out as a sweet and romantic number but the part below may not exactly represent a healthy mindset:
Lyrics:
“And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine”
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
Talking Heads is an American rock/new wave band founded in 1974. The band gave a break in 1991 but they are still active as of 2002. Psycho Killer is a popular song from their debut 1977 album called Talking Heads: 77. Interestingly enough, this album was produced by Tony Bongiovi, who happens to be rocker Jon Bon Jovi’s second cousin. Bon Jovi also has a song on this Psycho Songs List.
This is the song I was reminded of when I published the first article.
Lyrics:
“I can't seem to face up to the facts
I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax
I can't sleep cause my bed's on fire
Don't touch me I'm a real live wire
Psycho killer, qu'est que c'est
Far better
Run away
Psycho killer, que'st que c'est
Far better
Run away
Oh yeah
You start a conversation you can't seem to finish it
You're talkin' a lot but you're not sayin' anything
When I have nothing to say my lips are sealed
Say something once why say it again”
Bon Jovi - If I Was Your Mother
“If I was your mother” is from the 1992 Bon Jovi album Keep the Faith and it is the one Bon Jovi song that could really give Freud a field day.
If I was your mother
Would you let me hold your hand
Would you say you were my baby
Would you always be my friend
If I was your mother
Could I teach you what's right
Could I tell you stories
Maybe tuck you in
And kiss you sweet goodnight
Tell me what I got to do
To make my life mean more to you
I could get so close it's true
If I was your mother
Would you always believe me
'Cause I'd wake up in the middle
Of the night
Just to see if you need me
Tell me there's no mother
To who you're telling your secrets
And would you tell me
'Bout all the boys you been
Bringing home to meet me
Tell me what I got to do
To make my life mean more to you
I could get so close it's true
If I was yours ….”
Def Leppard- From the Inside
From the Inside is an acoustic song from English rock band Def Leppard’s album Retro Active, released in 1993. The song’s lyrics speaks for itself.
Lyrics:
“I am bad, I am evil,
I am winter, I am pain.
I'll mess up your life,
I'll beat up your wife,
I'll lose all your friends,
And I'll win in the end.
So you play the joker,
And I'll play the clown,
And I'll laugh while you're up there,
And I'll laugh when you're down.
Though your screams break the silence,
Oh, they won't make a sound.
Na na na na na na na na
I will rise, I will take you,
I will break you, never let you go.
I'll shoot through your veins,
I'll drive you insane,
I'll poison your breath,
And I'll love you to death.
So you be the joker,
And I'll be the clown,
And you'll laugh when you're up there,
But you'll cry when you're down.
Though your screams break the silence,
Oh, they won't make a sound.
Na na na na na na na na
