From 1966 up to May 2010 - 35,000,000 units of Toyota Corolla had been produced – the first car to achieve thirty million sales. Based on this record, a Corolla car has been sold on average every 40 seconds. In 1997, the Corolla became the world’s best selling nameplate. In 2005, this bestselling automobile in the world has attained 1.36 million sales.

What does the name “Corolla” means?

The word Corolla is of Latin origin which means “small crown”. The names of other Toyota models were derive from the word “crown”. For example, Corona was derived from the Latin translation of “crown” while Camry is the Anglicized pronunciation of the Japanese word “Kanmuri” which literally means crown.

The chassis of Corolla’s chassis designation code is “E”. Manufacturing plants of Corolla are located in several countries which include Japan, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and Venezuela.

Corolla Axio apr GT is a race car for Super GT series or formerly known as the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC).

Toyota Corolla is also called Corolla Fielder (wagon) in Japan and Corolla Millennium (sedan) in Morocco.

The length of Toyota Corolla sold in Japan is 4,390 mm while the export sedan for 2009-2010 is a bit longer with a length of 4,540 mm. The width of the export version is also wider by 65mm than the domestic version. The 2011 version is slightly taller than the 2010 version of Toyota Corolla.

In the Philippines, Toyota upgraded the Corolla Altis in September 2010. The 2.0V is equipped with CVT to replace the 4-speed AT while the manual transmission for the 1.6 variants has 6 gears instead of the previous 5.

They are great cars. I have friends that have them and they swear by them. My wife loves the Volkswagen Beetle, always has. Personally I think that the Beetle was an ugly car.
