Review: Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil Potato Chips
EducationReview: Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil Potato Chips
A new flavor of Lay's all natural potato chips caught my eye in the store the other day. The package was very appealing to me and the flavor intrigued me; they looked delicious! I like Lay's potato chips, and I love tomato and basil, so what a great combination for me!
Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil Package
I bought a $0.99 bag that was just shy of 2 ounces (slightly over 53 grams). The bag was mostly white with a thick green banner at the top, displaying a big yellow ball with the word "Lay's" in white letters inside a red banner. The bottom third of the package displays what looks like a wooden table with some flavored potato chips, some tomatoes, and some basil leaves.
There is a small circle on the front with the following information: "Made with all natural potatoes and seasonings."
Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil Flavor
The texture is the same as any other standard potato chip. The chips look almost like crab chips or even barbecue flavored chips with small green flecks of basil and other seasonings as well.
To me, the flavor is sharp and almost bitter yet savory. I can definitely taste a smoky tomato and slight basil flavor. The flavor is noticeable but not overwhelming. In my opinion this variety is very new and different from other flavors on the market today.
