Product Review: Philadelphia Cream Cheese Pumpkin Spice Flavor

I spotted a limited edition Pumpkin Spice Philadelphia cream cheese and decided to try it. How does it measure up?

I have to confess that I love cream cheese, and my boyfriend does as well. I love it on bagels, on English muffins, toast, and even on chips sometimes -- a bad habit my boyfriend got me into! I spotted a limited edition Pumpkin Spice Philadelphia Cream cheese and decided to try it. How does it measure up?

Package and Price

The cream cheese came in a small plastic tub of 8 ounces (226 grams) with a gray lid. The front of the container has at the top in red: "Limited Edition" in all capital letters with the logo for Kraft underneath, followed by the word "Philadelphia" in all large blue capital letters and the word "Regular" at the very bottom. The front of the tub is mostly gray and orange in color with some white and red. To the right of the logo is a pumpkin with cinnamon sticks below it and the words "cream cheese spread" and "Pumpkin Spice Flavor."

The price was reasonable at about $2.00 for the small tub of cream cheese by this name brand.

Flavor and Texture

When I first opened the container I had to take a whiff to smell the wonderful sweet pumpkin spice scent, and it smelled delicious! Soft and sugary notes of cinnamon and pumpkin filled the air. The color of the cream cheese is an orange color just lighter than the orange on the container, and the texture is very smooth but a bit softer than normal spreadable cream cheese. This product contains pumpkin concentrate as an ingredient, but no pumpkin pulp.

The taste was amazing. I love pumpkin as well as cinnamon, so it was very delectable on my English muffin. I also tried it on bagels and toast, and it's amazing everywhere I've sampled it! I love the flavor.

Nutritional Information

The suggested serving size is the standard 2 tablespoons (32 grams) for cream cheese. There are about 7 servings per container. One serving contains 90 calories and 11 grams of total fat (of which 4 grams are saturated). There is 8% of the daily value of cholesterol and 4% DV of sodium in this product. There is no fiber and 1 gram of protein in this cream cheese. The Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice cream cheese has no significant vitamins and minerals aside from 8% DV of vitamin A and 2% DV of calcium per serving.

Compared to my store brand light cream cheese, the nutritional facts are very similar, however the light cream cheese contains 4.5 grams of total fat (of which 3 grams are saturated), with 6% DV of cholesterol and slightly higher amount of sodium than the Pumpkin Spice Philadelphia cream cheese. The light version of plain cream cheese also has significantly higher protein (4 grams).

My Overall Opinion

I loved this product and will buy it again next season. I think if I ate this product too often I might grow tired of it, even though it's incredibly fabulous! This is a risk with too much of anything, though. If you like sweet pumpkin flavors and cinnamon, I would certainly suggest you try this product.

Wow, makes me want to hop on a plane and come to good old US of A and buy some of this !

I cannot find this product! Egads - I need someone to peel off the ingredients so I can make it myself! But other than that, this is a very informative review on what will be a popular seasonal item. Voted and appreciated.

That is a neat idea. I didn't know they made that. Pretty cool.
