Because of the anti-inflammatory benefit Bromelain rich pineapple is very good against inflammatory diseases. Antioxidant properties of pineapple make it a wonderful fruit for the heart. The water soluble Vitamin C protects cells from free radical attacks. It prevents oxidative damage to the body and also repairs the damage done by free radicals. In this way antioxidants prevent or reduce the atherosclerosis build up in the arteries, which can lead to heart attack or stroke. Antioxidants (Vitamin C & manganese) promote the immune system, prevent from infections, cold and flu. Antioxidants also protect against the risk developing cancer. In addition, manganese and thiamine play very important roles in energy production.

ARMD or age-related macular degeneration is associated with vision loss. Antioxidant rich foods are good against ARMD. Antioxidants also give protection against other vision related problems and diseases. Fresh pineapple is an excellent fruit for the eye health.

B vitamins (thiamin, pyridoxine) in pineapple along with minerals such as manganese and copper help controlling blood pressure and heart rate.
