WebEx vs GoToMeeting
GoToMeeting vs WebEx: Side-by-Side Brand Comparison
WebEx vs. GoToMeeting: Comparison Details
While WebEx does appear to have many of the administrative controls or privacy features for meetings, they seem to be hidden a bit when you're actually in a meeting remove.
You can enable a "wait room," which is referred to as your personal meeting room in WebEx. This implies that you're having someone join your personal meeting room to chat and you must admit them to the your room. If you schedule a separate, regular meeting there won't be a wait room established that the host must admit participants into the meeting like some other competitors.
You can remove or mute participants as you see fit, if you're the meeting host. You can mute all participants or mute them upon entry. The difficulty here is that it depends on the type of meeting that you're hosting on WebEx. When removing someone, that individual will also be notified -- just something to keep in mind. These settings and adjustments seem a bit more difficult to find than they are on some other competitors.
That being said, WebEx seems to have great security and encryption features, so if you're worried about privacy for the sake of an unwanted guest appearing in your meeting, I don't think you have much to worry about.

From my own personal experience I have found that GoToMeeting has solid privacy features.
When you create the meeting, in addition to receiving a personal meeting ID code, you are given the option to create a password to enter the room to create an extra layer of security. Organizers of meetings are able to dismiss attendees of the meeting very easily, by clicking on the attendee in the control panel and removing them, as well as cancelling the meeting at any time. As an organizer, you are also given the ability to disable chat for one or more attendees at any time.
If you are trying to share screens, the organizer can select one attendee who is able to present to the entire meeting. Another plus of GoToMeeting, is that you have the ability to enable, disable or pause sharing of multiple screens or individual applications while searching for files, so that you aren't sharing confidential and personal data.
Overall, GoToMeeting has a solid understanding and utilization of privacy features and administrative controls, so that you feel that you are in a secure environment.

Some users have reported instances of grainy or choppy video when utilizing WebEx. There have been reports of blurry screen sharing as well, specifically when enlarging the video stream to full screen. Cisco has produced mounds and mounds of troubleshooting and support information regarding these issues. Troubleshooting suggestions and assistance is provided and can be viewed here. The suggestions and honesty with issues that their users regularly face is very helpful
Known issues and limitations for video quality is transparently shared by WebEx, which you can read more about here.
WebEx has instructions on how to enable high definition video streaming for calls and meetings, which is 720p.

GoToMeeting's video quality is top notch and one of the best reasons to use this video conferencing tool.
Whenever I've used GoToMeeting, I've seen high quality video that is most times very stable, with no lag or issues.
In addition to the native GoToMeeting app, you can use LogMeIn's HDFaces Video Conferencing software with GoToMeeting. HDFaces gives you the opportunity to have the highest resolution video conferencing on the market today - up to 25 streams at 640p x 480p for a maximum resolution of 1920p x960p. HDFaces is simple to use and supports video up to 30-frames/second,
Overall, I find that if you are looking for high quality video when video conferencing, that GoToMeeting is a great solution.

WebEx is definitely working to improve the overall ease of use of the site and platform. There's certain aspects such as screen sharing that seem a bit less intuitive as compared to some competitors. That being said, the everyday tasks such as scheduling or joining a meeting seem very easy to do so.
The convenience of always having your personal meeting room is something that seems a bit underrated in WebEx. The number of times that quickly hoping on a video call to share a screen or just communicate in at least a virtual face-to-face setting has been the more effective option in a working from home or remote setting is countless. So to always have that "on" meeting room that you can send the link to someone or add their email to invite them to is definitely user friendly.

I think that GoToMeeting has a solid user interface, albeit a little sparse when it comes to features.
When I tested the software to see if it was a good fit for our team, I found that it was easy to use. It's simple to create a meeting in your hub with a click of a button. In that portal, you can then select a time and date for the meeting. You will then be given an invitation that you can share with your team members,
To add new users to your team you will go to the admin center and input your team members' information. They will then be sent an invitation to join the group and they will have the option to create their own meetings.
Overall, GoToMeeting is an easy to use product for video conferencing.

WebEx is made for larger companies and larger groups of people. The maximum number of participants for WebEx video conferencing is 200 -- definitely more than suitable for most companies.
Can't ignore the reports and comments of grainy or choppy video streaming with WebEx though,

GoToMeeting is a good video conferencing solution for large groups.
There are two plans for GoToMeeting - Professional and Business.
Professional is $12/month per organizer and supports up to 150 participants in a meeting. Business is $16/month per organizer, supporting up to 250 participants. With these types of accounts you are given unlimited meetings with no caps on meeting time, screen sharing or chat. All you have to do as the organizer is create the meeting and share the link to the members of your team that you want to be in the meeting. Because it's able to support large groups, it's great to create one account for your team and have users create meetings on that single account if at all possible, to avoid having to pay for a lot of different accounts.
I used GoToMeeting in the past with other organizations I worked with and had large meetings with over 100 participants and didn't experience any major issues with video or audio quality. As with any video conferencing software, there were occasional hick-ups, but I never experienced a dropped call.
Overall, I think GoToMeeting is great for large groups, because it has great pricing and features for both of the plans that they offer.

WebEx does a fantastic job of reporting and providing feedback on common issues and troubleshooting those issues on WebEx. Unfortunately, the online help tool is the old style where you type in a question and hope you find what you're looking for in the results query. So, in my personal opinion, this could definitely be improved.
That being said, Cisco does offer 24/7 support via chat, calling, or opening a support ticket, which is pretty great!

From my experience GoToMeeting has solid customer support.
You have the option to call them live, but due to the ongoing pandemic, they do let you know that there are high wait times and suggest that you use the help/support center to try and find an answer.
When you go to the support center you are shown a menu of their products, where you can select which one you need help with. Once you navigate there, you can search for the topic that you need help with or use the resources that they provide for you on the page. I was able to find the answers that I was looking for quickly and the articles and guides were easy to follow and digest.
Another way to find an answer to your question is using the chat bot, that is at the bottom right of your screen. The bot navigates you to the most popular topics that people are looking for answers to, and gives you automated responses that relate to that topic and if the automated answers don't give you what you're looking for, they will direct you to other resources, where you can find answers.
Overall, the support for GoToMeeting is solid. I do wish they had better live chat help as it's nice to be able to communicate with someone over chat rather than using a bot. However, their bot is quite robust and is able to handle most questions that you are looking for.

WebEx has some awesome screen sharing features. Although not as easy as to actually do as some competitors in the space, the level of/maintained presentation while sharing your screen is great. You can either share your screen or simply share a file with the meeting participants. While doing so, you essentially have a presenters screen set up that allows for you to present and still address and see your meeting participants at the same time, which is offered by few competitors.
You can share via your tablet or mobile device as well, another major win for WebEx. Meeting hosts can also easily record meeting sessions.

To share screens, the organizer selects one attendee who is able to present to the entire meeting. The presenter is then given the option to decide what screens they would like to share with the meeting. The organizer can then transfer permission to share screen to another user.
There are great tools with GoToMeeting's screen sharing, providing you with drawing tools that make collaboration a breeze. With those tools you can high sections of your screen or presentation, making it easy for the meeting to comprehend what to focus on.
What makes GoToMeeting great is that it has multi-platform support as you can easily use a computer, smartphone or tablet to join a meeting. You can easily tap or pinch on the tablet or smartphone so that you can see exactly what you need to see.
GoToMeeting definitely shows that they care about your own privacy, as you have the ability to enable, disable or pause sharing of multiple screens or individual applications while searching for files, so that you aren't sharing confidential and personal data.
Finally, recording is available in GoToMeeting with a simple push of a button and you are given a link that you can share with your team for future viewing.
Overall, screen sharing on GoToMeeting is great, because it supports collaboration easily, a variety of platforms, can record meetings and is incredibly easy to use.

WebEx allows you to start a white boarding session in any meeting as an easy way to collaborate in remote or video style settings. WebEx allows for file sharing and chat services as well.
Some competitors have added features such as white boarding or actually annotating a screen share, adding a reaction to a presentation to either show you have a question or are happy with the presentation. Some of which WebEx supports, but in more of a webcasting or webinar hosting setting, not everyday video conference meetings.

GoToMeeting is severely limited in its interactive features.
The chat is very simple and basic and doesn't offer users the option to use emojis or gifs. In addition, there is no option to use a virtual background or to react while in a meeting. Comparing this to other video conferencing platforms. GoToMeeting is very basic and if you're looking for more bells and whistles, you should look elsewhere.
While overall, GoToMeeting has solid video conferencing, it is very basic and doesn't allow for customization.

System requirements to operate WebEx can be found here, but for all intents and purposes as long as the device that you use has an updated operating system from at least 2013 you should be just fine to use WebEx.

GoToMeeting is available to use on all the major platforms, from smartphones to tablets, android to iOS and Mac to PC. What makes it great is that there are no limitations when you use any of these platforms. You are still able to access all of the tools that you are looking for including screen sharing, video recording and chat. Finally, what makes it great is that, whatever platform you use, it is easy to navigate and perform all the tasks that you are looking for.
Overall, GoToMeeting has great platform compatibility and I've never had any issues using it on various devices with different operating systems.

All I can say is, wow. WebEx offers an entire PDF about their security model, which you can view here. To quickly summarize, it includes everything penetration testing, a response team, role based access, and visuals explaining the multi layer security model.
Data does not seem to be unnecessarily utilized or kept, even administrative meeting host data is maintained for account purposes and nothing further.
Per WebEx's penetration testing against hacking and other vulnerabilities, the likelihood of WebEx being hacked seems very slim.
Like similar platforms, data is encrypted via WebEx from end to end. For WebEx, this includes white boarding while screen sharing, even that is encrypted from one device to another.
Major points to WebEx by Cisco for their honesty and transparency in all things security and data related.

In my experience with GoToMeeting, I have not seen any issues with security.
First off, GoToMeeting uses strict encryption protocols to ensure that anything that is shared during your meeting remains confidential and secure. Each individual meeting is kept secure, as only those that have access to the session ID can login to the meeting. Another added layer of security is to add a password to your meeting. That password is never transmitted, so you can be assured that it is secure and can't be found by anyone you don't want it to.
GoToMeeting provides true end-to-end data security measures, so that all connections are end-to-end encrypted, so you can be sure that your meeting will remain confidential.
GoToMeeting does offer SSL and TLS protocols to add an extra layer of security. In addition to SSL, GoToMeeting uses VeriSign/Thawte public key certificates that prevent would be hackers to impersonate as infrastructure servers to steal your data.
For more information on GoToMeeting's security, take a look at their white paper.

WebEx offers 160+ different apps to integrate its services with, including the major services such as Slack, GSuite. and Outlook. Although 160 should cover your bases, including scheduling, project management tools, and other office essentials, some competitors offer 1000+ different apps to integrate with -- WebEx could definitely up their game in this area.

Right now, you can integrate Slack, Salesforce, Acuity and Hipchat directly with GoToMeeting. Zapier gives you even more access to other integrations such as Microsoft Office 365, GSuite, Microsoft Teams, Mailchimp & Asana.
To use Slack with GoToMeeting your admin needs to enable the integration. Once that happens, it is as simple as typing "/g2m" or clicking on the phone icon in a Slack channel to start a meeting. Once you start the meeting, a link will be posted so that members of your team are able to join. What's great is that you are able to use GoToMeeting in the office or on the road and it is easy to go from Slack to GoToMeeting and vice versa. This same process works for most other integrations with GoToMeeting.
Overall, I like the integrations that GoToMeeting has available, I just wish that it was easier to install all of them, instead of having to go to a secondary app such as Zapier to add them.
