What is a PSP Brick?
When a PlayStation Portable (PSP) is bricked it simply means that the PSP can no longer function properly. Bricked PSPs are usually caused by corrupted downloads and may also be due to wear and tear. Knowledge of the signs and even the cures for a PSP brick will help you continue to play your device for a very long time.
Natural elements such as dirt and also dust may cause a PSP to brick. Dust that enters the PSP may cause control buttons on the PSP to stick, making the PSP not usable. Always keep your PSP properly. Avoid keeping them in a dusty or a dirty environment. Another natural element that may cause the PSP brick is water. Like any electronic device, water that seeps in will cause the PSP to stop working. Ensure that your PSP is removed from any clothing that needs to be laundered.
Whether the PSP is locked or unlocked, the device can be used to download games and software. Sometimes, however you may download software or games that contain viruses. This will brick your PC. To un-brick the PSP, a Pandora battery is required. This will reset your PSP settings. You will need to place the Pandora battery into the PSP battery compartment. Always ensure the content that is being downloaded onto the PSP, is a reliable site. This is the only way to prevent virus infection.
When the PSP is switched on and nothing happens, that is one of the obvious symptoms of a bricked PSP. There are also symptoms to tell us that the PSP is semi-bricked and presently will become fully bricked. Examples include no audio when you switch on the PSP. Or no images displayed even though audio is heard. Sometimes the PSP will start up when it’s turned on, only to find it shutting down on its own a few minutes later. You may send the PSP back to Sony to have it repaired if you experience any of these regularly. Sony will fix it for you on the one condition that the warranty is not void due to modifications to the PSP.
User's can access the PSPs recovery mode if the device is hacked and has custom firmware on it. In most cases the bricked PSP can be fixed by accessing the tool in recovery mode. Hold down the R-button when you reboot the PSP. This will enable you to go to recovery mode. Select "recovery mode" from the menu. This will work, on the condition that your PSP can turn on. It will not help much if the bricked PSP cannot be turned on. Semi-bricked PSPs works best with recovery mode, such as game freezes during game play.
