Theory on the Origins of Christianity, Islam and Judaism
Of all the religions of the world, over half of the worlds population adheres to three. Christianity, Islam and Judaism. These three religions are inexplicably tied to one another. They share common origins and many of the same personalities. A primary doctrine to all three of these religions is the requirement of blind faith. Each has its own holy texts and adherence to said text, without question, is a cornerstone of these religions. Questioning the validity or divine origin of any holy writings of the Christian, Muslim or Jewish faiths has been and remains an act tantamount to heresy.
Could it be that over half the worlds population, 3.7 billion people, have based their spiritual faith on one mans drug-induced hallucination that occurred almost 4,000 years ago?

I understand your misgivings for this article. The idea of questioning the validity of a religious faith by virtue of a decidedly non-divine origin is bound to ruffle some feathers. But I do assure you that the historical facts do pose the possibility, if not a probability, that these religions could be the product of the use of plants with psychotropic properties. It is a fact that during the time of Abraham, there were two plants, the Acacia and the Peganum Harmala, which grew in the Sinai peninsula and Israel. It’s also a known fact that the peoples of the time were aware of the psychotropic properties of the plants and used them accordingly. There are many religions, from ancient times all the way up to today who have and do use mind altering substances, all being considered sacred, holy and even divine in nature. I would suggest to you that psychotropic substances are not only at the root of Christianity, Islam and Judaism, but is a likely at the base of most of the worlds religious. You suggest that I insult your intelligence by postulating such an idea. I suggest that you insult my intelligence by making the assumption that your belief is the only correct one. I am by no means the first person to have a theory on this subject. If you would like to broaden your horizons and increase your knowledge on the subject, I might suggest you read up on other noted authors, scientists, theologians and others who have written on the subject of the use of mind altering drugs and the role it plays in the shaping and even creating of religions. I would suugest looking up the following works to read further on how mind altering substances have factored into the origins of religion and their practices. La Barre (1972),Wasson et al. (1986), Ott (1995), Smith (1964, 2000), the anthologies edited by Forte (1997), Roberts (2001), and Labate and Goulart (2005) as well as Devereux (1997) and Rudgley (1993).
Assuming Abraham was eating magic mushrooms is a HUGE assumption. No basis in fact or reality. Is there any evidence people even knew about that drug at the time? There is nothing wrong with questioning the validity of any historical event or act .. but to make wild assumptions and present them as facts is less than intellectually honest. You question the validity of the worlds major religions .. i question the validity of your assumptions .. fair ? Sure Abraham could have been on drugs. He could also have been visited by aliens. Or he could have been listening to his camels. Or he could have heard from God. as for connections to other religions ..they could all have the same source, but also just because things are similar is meaningless. Digging sticks in ancient South America, North America, Europe, Asia and Australia are virtually identical .. What does that mean? It means the all figured out how use a stick to dig ... not that they all copied from each other. The major three religions are not based on blind faith. That is insulting to my intelligence. They are also not based on making wild assumptions for which you have no evidence ...
There is no mystic experience without hallucination. Some people are already born hallucinated (schizophrenic, etc...). These people are mystic by nature. Another people are not born hallucinated, but because of the problems of the life they are unhappy and unable of living together with the unhappiness. The bitter unhappy search an exit for the maze of his existence.
Result of this equation: the naturally hallucinated believes that can drive all for happiness (or it makes this to produce his own happiness) and the unhappy is always willing to walk for any highway that is not yours. Like this in the religion, like this in the politics also.
