For protection of the Liver, regulation of Hepato-Digestive functions and disorders of Metabolism, The introduction of lipotropes, in particular Choline, into therapeutics was a decisive step in the treatment of hepatic disorders. Choline, the most powerful lipotropic agent, is extensively utilised to combat fatty degeneration of the liver parenchyma which leads to cirrhosis. By virtue of its parasympathomimetic action, Choline increases the volume of glandular secretions, especially biliary, thereby overcoming digestive disturbances due to hepatic insufficiency. Sorbitol increases the glycogen content of the liver. It exerts moistening and osmotic properties on the digestive mucosa and by modification of the intestinal flora enhances the synthesis of the B complex vitamins. The essential functions of Sorbitol are to stimulate biliary contraction, favour exudation of bile and pancreatic-juice-and by its action on the intestinal musculature to favourably influence the passage of intestinal bolus.
In SORBILINE the action of Choline has been reinforced and made more comprehensive by Sorbitol. SORBILINE therefore, widens the range of indications covered by Choline and Sorbitol individually. The excellent clinical results obtained with SORBILINE makes it an ideal preparation in the treatment of chronic constipation, hepatic disorders, gall bladder atonia, certain forms of migraine and varieties of dyspepsia.
SORBILINE(SORBITOL SOLUTION) is used for symptomatic and supportive therapy in dysfunction of liver, gall bladder, digestive system as well as some disorders of metabolism such as :
Hepatobiliary insufficiency and subclinical icterus.
Hepatic congestion and its sequelae.
Gall bladder hypotonia and atonia, chronic cholecystitis, migraine of hepatobiliary origin.
