Republic Wireless got its start about 14 years ago and is a division of Bandwidth. Bandwidth is a communications tech company with customers like Google, Vonage and Skype. Republic Wireless first started in 2010 when they started using WiFi for a better mobile service.

Republic Wireless has made the smartphone better by engineering it to work natively with WiFi. They are partnered with a nationwide cell company for backup coverage. You can check their coverage by entering in your zip code, and they will show you what type of service you will get in your area.

Republic Wireless has four different plans to choose from.

WiFi Only Plan

  • The cost is $5 per month and is great for use as a home phone or for kids who don’t yet need a big time smartphone plan.
  • Unlimited WiFi, talk, text and data.
  • No cell coverage.

WiFi + Cell Talk & Text Plan

  • The cost is $10 per month and is the plan designed for WiFi people and who only rely on cell for texting and calling while on the go.
  • Unlimited WiFi, talk, text, data and cell.
  • Includes WiFi plus cell backup for communicating via text or talk whenever and wherever you need it.

WiFi + Cell (3G) Talk, Text and Data Plan

  • The cost is $25 per month and lets you use WiFi when you’re connected and you will have access to 3G cell data network when you’re not.
  • Unlimited WiFi, talk, text and data.
  • 3G unlimited cell talk, text and 3G data.

Republic Wireless has a helpful feature on their website that can help you choose which plan is right for you. This feature will ask what types of use you want from your smartphone and when you are finished, it will show you the plan or plans you should choose from.

Boost Mobile uses the nationwide Sprint network and offers several affordable smartphone plans.

Boost Mobile Smartphone Plans

Boost Mobile offers four different monthly plans and two different daily plans. All plans are no annual contract plans.

Boost Mobile Monthly Plans

  • $50 monthly plan includes unlimited talk, text and data. Also Includes voicemail, long distance, call waiting and call forwarding. This is the perfect plan for a home phone.
  • $55 monthly plan includes unlimited talk, text and data. Also Includes voicemail, long distance, call waiting and call forwarding. This plan is also 4G available.
  • $60 monthly plan includes unlimited talk, text and data and BlackBerry Messenger with BBM voice.
  • $45 monthly plan is only available for the BlackBerry Curve 9310 smartphone and includes unlimited talk, text, data and BlackBerry Messenger with BBM voice. Also included are voicemail, long distance, call waiting and call forwarding.

Boost Mobile also offers a $2 per day plan and a $3 per day plan that includes unlimited talk, text, data, voicemail, long distance, call waiting and call forwarding.

Boost Mobile Shrinking Payments

Boost Mobile has an interesting program that will shrink your monthly smartphone bill. For every 6 on-time payments you make, Boost Mobile will lower your monthly bill by $5 per month, up to $15 off of your monthly bill. For example, if you are using the $50 per month plan, after 18 months of on-time payments, your monthly bill would then be $35 per month.

Boost Mobile Insurance

Losing your smartphone can be a real problem today, leaving you virtually cut off from friends, family and work. Boost Mobile offers smartphone insurance for $5 per month. The smartphone insurance includes:

  • Covers out-of-warranty smartphone breakdown.
  • Covers accidentally damaged smartphones, including liquid damage.
  • Covers stolen phones.
  • Covers lost phones.

Depending on your plan, the deductibles are $25, $65 or $100.
