The Canadian actor Jim Carrey was born on January 17th, 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. As with most actors, Carrey got his start grabbing whatever early roles he could to start building his resume. The first film that Jim Carrey was cast in was Copper Mountain in 1983 where he performed the role of Bobby Todd. The part was not a great one and the film was not a hit either but it gave Jim Carrey’s acting career the jump start that it needed.

Throughout the 1980’s Jim Carrey continued to take primarily film roles that came his way. Most of the early roles that he performed were small comedic spots in movies such as Peggy Sue Got Married where he played the silly Walter Getz and also Earth Girls Are Easy where he played the hairy alien Wiploc. Both of these were fun movies for their time and began to show the world some of Carrey’s hilarious physical comedy potential.

Jim Carrey’s real film break came in 1994 when he was cast as Ace Ventura in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. This was the first time that Carrey had the big screen all to himself and could explore the quirky Ace Ventura character to his fullest. Carrey was brilliant in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and his acting career would never look back.

Carrey has dominated the comedy movie scene the past 25 plus years giving us blockbuster hits like Liar Liar, Dumb & Dumber and The Cable Guy.
