Now often times when a person with Multiple Personality Disorder hears voices, they hear the voices inside there head. As well the voices that people with Multiple Personality Disorder hear are often times the voices of the people who traumatized them. So one thing that you can do if you see the person like talking too themselves with positive feelings and calmness ask the person who they are talking too. If you know who it is that they are talking too and what it is that they are talking about you can help the person deal with the what they are going through at that time.
Now if a person with Multiple Personality Disorder has begun the switching process and are switching between personalities or are in another state of personality, then talk to them in the state of personality that they are in. It will make them feel more comfortable about themselves more likely to tell you what is going on. Please note when a person with Multiple Personality Disorder is in this state of switching or in another personality all together please what ever you do, do not talk down to them or yell and scream at them. Most importantly when one is in this state do not give them negative or bad suggestions because like I stated earlier people with Multiple Personality Disorder are susceptable to suggestion, and therefore if you give them a negative or bad suggestion they may end up following through with it.
Now also like I said earlier people with Multiple Personality Disorder can have Fugue states. As well like I said earlier a Fugue state is a state in which one suddenly or unexpectedly gets up and wonders off. Now if you are in the middle of talking to someone who is in the state of switching or another personality all together, and they out of nowhere up and walk off they are most likely in a Fugue state. What you would need to do if possible is try to follow the person and make sure they do not wonder off in the middle of the street while vehicles are driving by. If you cannot follow the person call a friend to help you. Another thing that you can do is politely suggest that they not go any where and maybe to lay down or take a nap. Whatever you do, do not force a person to stay in there surroundings especially if the place they are in is what brought on the traumatic memories.
Now as well sometimes people with Multiple Personality Disorder may get depressed and start crying. Now at times like this the best thing that you can is just to hold the person, and let them cry on your shoulder. Reassure them that everything is alright and the people who hurt them are not around.
