How to Crochet a Lavender Square

This is an easy square to crochet, consisting of only three rounds!

Here are the materials you will need to crochet this square:

A small amount of Lion Brand Yarn Pound of Love Super Soft worsted weight yarn in lavender (or your choice of color)

Size J crochet hook

Yarn needle (for weaving ends in)

Scissors

Size: This square measures approximately three inches square.

Round One: Chain four, join with a slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring. Chain three, work seven double crochets into the ring you just made, join with a slip stitch in the top of beginning chain three (you will now have a total of eight double crochets).

Round Two: Chain one, work one single crochet into the same double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four, work one single crochet into the next double crochet, chain four,  join with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of round (you will now have a total of eight single crochets and eight chain-four loops).

Round Three: Slip stitch into the first chain four loop of Round Two, chain three, (work two double crochets, chain two, three double crochets) into the same chain four loop, work three double crochets in the next chain four loop, work (three double crochets, chain two, three double crochets) in the next chain four loop, work three double crochets in the next chain four loop, work (three double crochets, chain two, three double crochets) in the next chain four loop, work three double crochets in the next chain four loop, work (three double crochets, chain two, three double crochets) in the next chain four loop, work three double crochets in the next chain four loop,  join with a slip stitch in the top of beginning chain three (you will now have a total of thirty-six double crochets and four chain-two spaces). Fasten off and weave in ends securely.

Now that you have made your square, you may be wondering what to do with it. Here are a few suggestions:

1. This square would make a nice Mother's Day coaster.

2. Pound of Love yarn is very soft. Make a bunch of these lavender squares and sew them together to form a baby blanket.

3. Sew a long strip of the squares together to form a scarf.
