Foods to Be Avoided by Diabetics and People with High Blood Sugar
Are you diabetic or have a very high blood sugar? Here’s a list of food you have to refrain from eating because these food are very high in Glycemic Index. The glycemic index or GI is a measure of the effects of carbohydrates on blood sugar levels.
1.) Corn Flakes
Tempting and deliciously good but it’s a big no no for diabetic because Corn flakes are very high in Glycemic Index. This very popular breakfast cereal is originally manufactured by Kellog’s through the treatment of corn or maize.
2.) Rice Cakes
Rice cakes are very popular among Asians. The Chinese tikoy is particularly popular during the celebration of Chinese New year., Bibingkang kanin and Sapin-sapin are two of the most popular rice cakes in the Philippines. These, and may other types of rice cakes should be avoided by diabetic sufferer.
3.) Rice Krispies
Rice Krispies, although rich in iron, should not be eaten by people with high blood sugar and diabetics. Its ingredients include rice, sugar, salt, corn flour and some vitamins, calcium and folic acid. Rice Krispies is a breakfast cereal created by Kellog’s.
4.) Baked Potatoes
Baked potatoes are particularly common and popular in many western countries. Baked potato, which is also known as jacket potato, is the edible result of baking a potato. Some baked potatoes are served with fillings and condiments such as butter, cheese, ham, or chicken. It could have been good but sorry it’s not good for you.
5.) Watermelons
You can take a look but you cannot take a slice of it. It’s bad for you. Basically almost all fruits are good but watermelon is bad for diabetic people because it has high Glycemic Index. Watermelons contain high concentration of carbohydrates and sugar.
6.) Croissants
Croissants are butterfly flaky pastries which is named for its distinctive crescent shape. They look good and definitely taste good but again, I have to say you can’t eat it. It is also sometimes called a crescent roll or simply crescent.
7.) Baguette
Baguette, which is also known in English as French stick or French bread, is not recommended to diabetic sufferers. This long thin loaf of French bread that is commonly made from basic lean dough is high in Glycemic Index.
8.) White Bread
This one too should not be eaten by people with high bold sugar and diabetes. White bread, which is made from wheat flour, is not good for you because the bran and the germ have been removed unlike the whole wheat bread which is made from whole wheat bread.
Extruded breakfast cereals, all white rice like jasmine, glucose and all foods which are rich in carbohydrates should also be avoided.

I knew all of these except the watermelon...that one surprised me. Very valuable info for people with diabetes or high blood sugar, and those who share in their food preparation.
