The largest recorded peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the world was lovingly crafted in Peanut, Pennsylvania in 1993. It was 40 ft long and contained 150lbs of peanut butter and 50lbs of jelly. History doesn’t record who ate it.

Dothan, Alabama is the "Peanut Capital of the World", apparently. But Georgia and Texas are the largest peanut producers in the USA though. It’s a tough old world, Alabama.

Peanuts are Georgia's official state crop (but they aren’t the “Peanut Capital of the World"...), and more than 50 percent of the peanuts they produce are used in peanut butter.

Dothan outclasses Georgia here with a “Gold Peanut”, and an “Elvis Peanut”, and in fact a whole town wide peanut trail that was part of a community art project.

2861 pounds of peanuts are harvested from one acre of land. That means that an acre will provide enough peanuts for almost 409 American people’s yearly intake and enough for 30000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Peanut butter was one of the technological advances introduced at the 1904 World Fair in St. Louis, Missouri, along with Dr Pepper. Selling peanut butter as as a new idea is a bit misleading though, as the Aztecs had a peanut butter recipe sometime before.
