It is not strange to have dreams about cars, trains and boats. People use transportation all the time to get to where they want to go. Your dreams may be showing you how your journey is going. On the other hand, dreaming about taking a journey could simply mean you want to get away.
Dreams involving boats are slightly different in some ways from dreams about cars and trains. To be able to travel in a boat you need to go through water, and in dreams, water is associated with emotions. Therefore, if you dream that you are going along happily through calm water, your journey in waking life is going smoothly too. However, if waters get stormy, and the boat you are in is being tossed about on the waves, your emotional life may be in turmoil too.
If you dream that you forget your boat ticket, lose it, or cannot pay your fare this could signify that you are unprepared in your daily life, and need to take your time and discover what you need to do before you can progress. Panicking about not having a boat ticket could mean that you are scared about a step you are about to make in your life. You may just need reassurance, or your subconscious could be letting you know you are not ready yet.
Dreams about cars are often about autonomy and sexuality. They may be about coming to terms with who you are, and about breaking loose and becoming independent.
If you dream that you jump in a car and speed off into the hills, it is likely that you want to make some distance between yourself and a situation, or person, in your life. If your car will not start in your dream it means you are relying on someone else, and need to find a way of gaining your own security.
Dreams about trains can be nostalgic and romantic, depending on what you associate trains with in waking life. Train dreams tend to be about situations you and other people close to you are in, or even society. Unless of course, you are traveling alone, and then one might ask why when there is room for lots of people onboard.
Dreams about steam trains can often be self-explanatory, as if a dream train runs out of steam; this indicates that you too need nourishment of some kind and a boost of energy. It may be that you have come to the end of your tether when dealing with a problem, and are ready to throw in the towel and let someone else deal with things.
Take a good look at the condition of your dream mode of transport. Is it clean and fresh? Alternatively, old and battered? Does it need a paint job? Or is it in tiptop condition? The condition of your transport can tell you whether the method you are using to reach your goal destination is healthy or not.
