Different Forms of Energy and Their Uses
The sun is the major source of energy. The suns solar energy is one of the factors that support life in our planet. The plants that we eat absorb energy from the sun as these plants make their own food. Other animals too, eat these plants which results to the transfer of energy from one organism to another.
Humans use energy not only for physiological needs but for some other purpose. In this modern times, people needs a vast amount of energy in order to do different works and applications. The presence of different electronic gadgets and machines use by man requires the demand for energy supply as these runs by electricity, a form of energy. Another major energy demand is the use of oil fuels for the transportation sector. Different industries nowadays need energy to run factories and other industrial facilities.
There are different forms of energy namely; mechanical, chemical, radiant, electrical and nuclear energies. These energies differ from their form but they can change from one form to another.
Mechanical energy is the energy of the movement as well as the position of a particular object. This energy might be kinetic or potential. Kinetic energy is the mechanical energy that is present in moving object. Potential energy is the mechanical energy that is associated to an object due to its position or to its condition.
Chemical energy is the energy that is needed to be able for the atoms to bond together. This form of energy is involved in chemical reaction. When the bonds of atom are broken, the chemical energy is released.
Radiant energy is the energy that we can get from the sun. The sun is a big source of energy. We can see this energy in the form of the light rays, heat and in the form of many kinds of rays. These are the radiant energies that are traveling through space.
Electrical energy is the form of energy that is produced from electromagnetic interaction. This is the form of energy that gives power to the different home appliance such as televisions, fans, electric stoves, washing machines and many else.
Nuclear energy is produce during the process called as nuclear fission. There is a great amount of energy in the center of the nucleus of an atom; when the nucleus splits nuclear energy will be released. The nuclear energy is a good energy source but this kind of energy is dangerous.
