American Well (Amwell) is located in Boston, MA and is accredited for online patient consultants by the American Telemedicine Association. They allow you to talk to a doctor at any time of day or night, 7 days a week for numerous medical conditions. Patients have the choice of talking to them via phone, internet or mobile app.

How American Well Works

American Well will connect you with board certified doctors using your phone, tablet, or computer any time of day or night. To begin using American Well, patients will be required to do the following:

  • Enroll: Create an account, which is easy and fast. Your information will be stored securely for all future visits.
  • Choose: You will then be able to choose a doctor that best fits your medical condition and question. American Well will show you a list of doctors, their experience and their ratings.
  • Visit: Once you choose a doctor, you can them talk to them via video, phone or internet about your health situation.
  • Pharmacy: If you are in need of a prescription, you can then choose a pharmacy of your choice to have it delivered to.

Most doctor visits at American Well usually take about 10 minutes, but you can add more time if needed. These board certified doctors can review your history, answer your questions, diagnose your medical issue, treat your condition and if needed, prescribe over-the-counter medication.

Doctor On Demand is easy to use and their website is simple to understand. They offer video visits with a doctor for many types of medical conditions. The top medical issues they treat include:

  • Psychiatry: $229 for a 45 minute initial visit and $99 for 15 minute follow up visits.
  • Medical: A $49 fee for each visit.
  • Pediatric: $49 fee for each visit.
  • Lactation consultants: $40 for a 25 minute visit and $70 for a 50 minute visit.
