Almost Homemade Crock Pot Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Recipe.

This recipe couldn’t be easier. All you need is 2 boxes of scalloped potatoes from the store, some ham and a few other ingredients. If you work, you can prepare this meal before you leave for work, and it will be done by the time you get home. Your family will not know that this "almost homemade" crock pot scalloped potatoes and ham recipe isn’t truly homemade. It’s what I like to call “almost homemade” because I take something that already exists and make it better. All you have to do is use your imagination to make something totally new and delicious out of a boxed product from your grocery store shelf.

Here is what you need to make my crock pot scalloped potatoes recipe:

2 boxes of Betty Crocker Scalloped Potatoes (or store brand)

8 ounces of canned ham (or Spam) or as much as desired diced

Milk as directed on box

Water as directed on box

8 ounces of sour cream

8 ounces of Cabot’s Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese (or your favorite bran

Here is what you do to make this crock pot scalloped potatoes and ham recipe:

Step 1. Open the boxes of scalloped potatoes and pour them into the crock pot.

Step 2. Follow the directions on the box for the measurements for the butter or margarine, water and milk measurements. Add the cheese powder to the liquids and heat until the cheese powder is dissolved into the water and milk mixture.

Step 3. Pour the cheese liquid over the dry scalloped potato pieces in the crock pot.

Step 4. Cut up the ham into bite sized cubes. (I sometimes use Spam if I don’t have any ham. It works well with this recipe.)

Step 5. Add the sour cream to the mixture.

Step 6. Add 1 cup of shredded or grated cheddar cheese. (I prefer the Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese. It is sharper than Cabot’s Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese. The seriously sharp cheese is so sharp it causes the inside of your mouth to tingle. It’s the kind of cheese that true cheese lovers would appreciate.

Step 5. Give the ingredients a good stir and plug in the crock pot. If you are going to work, set the crock pot on low and it will cook perfectly in about 8 hours on low.

Serve with a salad and your meal is complete.
