18 Remarkable Grasslands From Around the World
There are numerous remarkable grasslands in the world. These grasslands that occur naturally on all continents except Antarctica offer livelihood to some people and gives superb natural sceneries as well. Grasslands are areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses and other plants particularly herbaceous or non-woody plants. Grasslands are of great significance for raising livestock for human consumption and for milk and other dairy products.
1.) Field Hamois
This photograph of beautiful grassland was taken during summer in Hamois Field in Belgium. The blue flower is Centaurea cyanus and the red one a Papaver rhoeas.
2.) Humid Pampas
The Humid Pampa or Pampa Húmeda in Spanish is an extensive region of flat, fertile grassland located in Argentina in South America. Dry Pampas has precipitation that average less than 700 mm while Humid Pampas has a precipitation average of 900 mm per year. The above picture shows a cropfield of barley in Los Toldos, Argentina.
3.) Konza Tallgrass
The Konza Tallgrass prairie is beautiful and natural grassland that is located in the Flint Hills of northeastern Kansas in the United States. This form of naturally occurring land offers splendid scenery.
Its complete name is Konza Prairie Biological Station and has an area of 3,487-hectare preserve of endemic tallgrass prairie. It is situated south of Manhattan, Kansas.

5.) Uruguayan Savanna
The Uruguayan Savanna is a captivating subtropical grassland and savanna eco-region which includes all of Uruguay, southernmost Brazil and some areas of northeastern Argentina. It is also known as the Brazilian-Uruguayan Savanna.
6.) Triodia Hummock Grasslands
The beautiful photograph above of grassland is Triodia Hummock Grasslands. It is located at Karijini National Park in Western Australia. The green hummocks are scientifically named Triodia pungens R.Br. and commonly called Soft Spinifex while the blue-grey hummocks are Triodia basedowii E.Pritz and are commonly called Hard Spinifex or Lobed Spinifex. The trees in the background are Eucalyptus and Acacia species.
7.) Swan Lake Nature Study Area
Swan Lake Nature Study Area is a remarkable grassland sprawled with sagebrush and assorted flora. This small conservation area is located north of Reno in Nevada, United States.
Dartmoor is an area of moorland (another term for grassland) located in south Devon in England, United Kingdom. It has an area of 954 km² and is protected by National Park status.
9.) Ilkley Moor
Ilkley Moor is moorland which is part of Rombalds Moor – the moorland between Ilkley and Keighley in West Yorkshire, England, UK. The two impressive rocks on the above picture are called “The Cow and the Calf Rocks”.
