Travel Guide to Las Vegas, the Most Exciting City in the World

You must take a ride at the top of the Stratosphere and Eiffel Towers in the evening.

Las Vegas is one of the most intriguing cities in the world. I think of this place as one of the Eighth Wonders of the World. When I first visited Vegas, it was approximately fifty years ago. It was mostly desert with just a few hotels. Of course, at that time as is now, it was popular for its gambling and a few shows. People also liked to go swimming at the hotel pools in between gambling, going out to dinner, or to see a show or two. At that time, shows were included with the dinner.

Although I have been to Las Vegas many times since the fifties, my recent journey there was really an intriguing experience for me. I feel that everyone should visit this “fairyland” at least once in their lifetime!!!! Every few years, a new hotel goes up, spreading its wings a quarter of a block or so. Many of the hotels are replicas of a country or a city.

There are so many sections in Caesars Palace that represents Italy. If you want to be treated like royalty, follow Caesar and Cleopatra statues to the Roman Style Pools and get spoiled by the grape goddesses who hand out grapes.

The Mandalay Bay is a hotel that has massive statues and rare aquatic animals. The Venetian Hotel has Italian décor. Another impressive hotel, I believe, is New York New York. This hotel is so extremely impressive because it looks so much like the New York skyline.

Night time in Las Vegas has especially a fairytale atmosphere. The lights, the bubbly atmosphere, the taxis, the interesting hotels, are all a part of the characteristics of this great Nevada city. There is, however, one more interesting view that I will never forget. It is the Stratosphere and Eiffel towers that are so very unique.

There is no better way to see this exciting city than to go up to the top of the Stratosphere and Eiffel towers. This is a landmark on the Las Vegas strip. The Stratosphere Observation deck opened in 1996. I still remember how impressive it was when I went up there a few years after it had been built. We were told by an official that this tower is over 1,000 feet tall. It is the tallest of its kind in the country. It is so high that you can see a helicopter at eye level. The Eiffel Tower replica is about half the size of the original in France. We went on a Stratosphere ride. It was such a thrill to see the Strip from way up in the air. I cannot compare anything else like this. It is also a very scary ride. People were screaming all through the ride. We were told that the best time to go on this ride is toward sunset, so that’s exactly what we did. You can see the rainbow of colors of the city lights.

If you want a romantic evening with a fantastic view, I suggest going to the Top of the World restaurant. This restaurant has a moving floor which takes an hour to get back from where it started.

We were told that New Year’s Eve is a great time to experience this remarkable view. You not only get a view of the city and the spectacular lights, but you also get to see the fireworks and the mass groups of people on the streets. This has been a wonderful experience for many people at this time of the year to see the dazzling lights and the excitement of Las Vegas.

I’ve only been there a couple of times and would love to go again. I am not a huge gambler, but the atmosphere and the fun is actually relaxing. My first time there I was a little kid and we were driving back from California. One of my memories of that first time was not of a casino, but a delicatessen. I think it was called Foxy’s. That was about 1973 or so.
